Would there have been a Lady Gaga if not for David Bowie

I was shocked and saddened tonight to hear of the passing of David Bowie. As a child of the 80's Labyrinth was an intregal part of my childhood. As I grew older I began to listen to and appreciate his musical world in full. Ziggy Stardust was the "Gaga" of the 70's. Lady Starlight and Gaga alike have said Bowie was a major inspiration for them, right down to Gaga's lightning bolt on her eye during The Fame Era-a direct copy from Bowie. I have to wonder if Starlight would be who she is today without him, and if Gaga would be who she is today without Lady Starlight. I am so sad to see this amazing talent and legend pass on. I love what he left on Earth for us to enjoy and can only hope I leave as much someday.

Princess Die

Just a warning, Sis. This isn't the right section or the best time...

To answer your question, no. We owe that to him, as well as much more.

Nod if you wanna make love with the enemy. ❤

can we please not do this right now? im not a product of his time and i have never heard his music but im am a bit shocked, and i dont think people will want to discuss anything regarding him for a while. i think its better if this is put on hold or closed for a while so people can process everything and calm down.

David Bowie IS Lady GaGa. Everything we have as a fanbase we owe to him. The outfits, the acting, the eclectic nature of her music, the LGBT support/visibility/controversy/activism/whateveryouwannacallit, the constant reinvention. Everything.

We lost not only one of the most important artists of all time but also a part of our lady.

Sorry, but how is this not news that he died? It is on the news section of every site everywhere. I think it's ok to talk about. He was a legend and it is very sad.

How is talking about his death disrespectful? I am mourning him as well as a child born in 84' who was a huge fan.

but still let people mourn and wait a few days or weeks for people to settle down

We're discussing the most important news to the art world in a very long time in relation to Lady GaGa on GaGa Daily. There is literally nothing out of line here. David Bowie is incomparable and this is devastating but there's still a discussion about Lady GaGa to be had.

Maybe you should appreciate the fact that his art and his soul live on through our favorite singer instead of looking for reasons to be offended.
