Hi! I'm new here, but a longtime lurker. I just wanted to say something and hear other thoughts. Regardless of what you feel about Terry (I personally think he's guilty and personally find his work basic), it is plain foolish to feature a cover with him when his career has suffered because of allegations. Vogue banned him as did W Magazine, plus many celebs have talked badly of him (such as Marina Diamandis and Amy Adams) + his behavior. Gaga is on a campaign -- for an Oscar no less -- because of a song about rape/sexual abuse. Why risk the backlash? Why risk the bad press? And that's not even talking about where her mindset and emotions could possibly be to sign off on this. Heck! After the news broke he'd be the final photographer I came across MANY GP oriented people coming down on her for it on Facebook & Twitter. I didn't realize just how many people know about his past (and probably present, to be honest) and DO NOT like him. I don't see Gaga as a shock value artist but many do and thought her rape story was false. Pretty disgusting, true, but giving someone like him such an amazing opportunity will only fuel the fire of countless people. I'm pretty disappointed in her. She looks like a careless hypocrite at worst and blissfully naive at best. I believe ALL victims so that includes her and the 10+ women that have accused him. It's hard to believe she hasn't heard about this if Anna Wintour did for crying out loud, so it comes down to something more; like not caring about these girls (which is very sad because she's a victim too) or deciding to pretend it never happened (which many victims do). Idk. It seemed like she was distancing herself after 'Do What U Want' and I was happy about that for more than one reason, and it was nice to even see people praise her for no longer associating with such a terrible guy, but now that's over with I guess and he's tied to her once again. Sigh.

Well, then she shouldn't claim to care about rape/sexual abuse victims and what have you then parade their friendship, imo.

I don't get it either. But just because she chooses to respect and support him doesn't mean we are obligated to as fans. Some people on this site will bash you, but being a fan of someone doesn't mean you have to love everyone they work with. I personally don't get it, but whatever. I don't like him and never will.

As a sexual abuse survivor myself, this news is particuarly disheartening, I mean yeah, she can do whatever she wants, but that doesn't mean it's always right.

She can still care about rape victims and have her own personal judgements on people. Still, it's just a photoshoot. ****ing Obama's been photographed by him.

He's claimed to be turning the corner from the abuse, and I think gaga is providing him the outlet to have a chance again. He really is a brilliant photographer, he just has demons. I don't think Gaga should give him an opportunity, but it's not up to me.

She's a grown woman, she can do whatever she wants. 

EVERYONE has their demons but it's not okay to frequently hold it over their heads for eternity, like, ****ing stop. If you have problem with his PAST lifestyle then focus on the current.

A lot of you say the same **** about R.Kelly but don't know WHAT the **** happened or WHAT went down. Wait until someone puts you down for your flaw(s) and then you'll see what the **** it's like, Till it Happens To You, you don't know how it feels.

I don't know if any of his allegations are true or not but it sounds like he has a dark past 

Gaga supported Perez bc she thought he was trying to change but didn't in the end so that relationship is over idk about this one he actually might have changed + you know Gaga she sees the good in everyone

I don't see how this could have an effect on her Oscar campaing. First of all, Terry Richardson is not that famous so a high percentage of the GP doesn't know about him, basically because he is a photographer and photographers don't get a lot of fame. Also, I'm convinced Gaga is aware about Terry abuse issues (I don't know how to name this) but they're only working together for the photos. They're pretty "normal" photos after all, it's not like the photos are like this:

(I mean, revealing photos or dirty attitude)

Gaga has never talked about being forced by Terry, so it looks like they get on well

I think so too - what if the allegations are wrong? I mean why does everybody think he is guilty, there have also been models who DEFENDED him etc. - not saying I know the truth of course, maybe he really did this horrible things and is a d*ckhead, I don't know - but I trust Gaga. She was abused herself, I highly doubt she would be still friends with him tbh

She knows him a lot better than any of us. And if she trusts him than I trust her enough that her judgment is better than the internet torch and pitchfork crowd...

 

edit: Also he's a brilliant portrait photographer. Whats with all this "he's basic" talk. It's like someone said it once and than everybody started repeating it.

It's pretty disappointing that so many people here would rather defend him than the victims. You believe Gaga when she say she was raped, but not these women? It's a double standard. It's pretty obvious why that is. Gaga's had bad judgement before so I don't think this would be the first time. And for the record, R. Kelly is also a terrible guy but at the least the media hasn't given him a second chance or turned a blind eye because judging by his Huffington Post interview, he hasn't changed whatsoever. Models have defended Richardson, more have not. And when you have high profile celebs saying he's bad news (Marina) and said he harassed them (Amy Adams) I'm going to take their word, opposed to those that in the fashion industry that have more to gain by saying "hey, he's actually kinda cool!"
