StrawberryBlond 14,102
I've said it once and I'll say it again - how Beyonce gets hailed as some sort of megastar queen continues to baffle me. She's had such a lack of hit singles in all these years that it's actually embarrassing. Sorry, but a true popstar has to have single and album success and she only succeeds on one side. I find it so frustrating that everyone else gets dragged for having underperforming singles (especially leads) but Beyonce gets a free pass and is always considered amazing. It's so unfair. And annoying for the pop artists who actually works their asses off and write all their material themselves, unlike her, who relies a lot on ghostwriters and steals other people's songs and claims credit. As a performer, she's pretty amazing, but as an artist, no, she doesn't deserve all this status. Even I'm shocked at how fast these songs dropped out the charts, even the ones that I knew performed poorly. Seriously, if I wasn't an album reviewer and therefore didn't listen to her entire discography, I would be able to name very few of her songs. She has more power in America when it comes to song recognition but worldwide, unless you've listened to all her albums beginning to end, you'd be hard pushed to name anything released after 2008 (and even some released during 2008, come to that). Apart from her debut, every album's singles has either 50/50 success or 25% success. That is not the resumee of a top girl in pop music. That's a local album seller. But for some reason, her fans seem to think so much of her work is iconic, even stuff like Countdown. It's like...wake up. It's amazing how hype can sell tour tickets, by the way. Her next tour is going to be one hell of a step down now that basically everyone has seen her perform her biggest hits. She's unlikely to get any more huge successes from here on out. She's also getting too old for the music buying youth market to care about (and I highly suspect she's lying about her age too).

While I don't feel as strongly about her as you do, i definitely agree with what you said. She's got a good PR team and i think that's worked in her favor during the 2010's

It is just... weird, how people have this conception of her when she isn't really THAT successful. This is incorrect. All of her albums have made it into the top 10 best selling albums of their years. Her latest solo tour is one of the highest grossing tours by a female artist of all time. With only like 3 weeks of 2013 left, her latest album became the best selling female album of the year. How is she not successful. Because of her single success? That isn't fair to say considering how she performs incredibly well in EVERY other aspect. She also didn't promote much at all with any of the singles from her latest work. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

I wonder why people don't call her a flop as they did with Gaga, her singles chart performances are horrible with the few last singles... Because she isn't a flop lol. Even her her worst performing album, 4, is platinum and not too far off from multiplatinum. Ot: Get Me Bodied felt so big back in the day. As well as most singles from 4. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
