I genuinely don't think any artist will outshine Gaga this year. Katy is on a decline. Iggy is trying to climb still. Rhianna is ****ING herself over at the moment. Adele's album is even started to filter out. Bieber has used up all his good singles. Demi and Selena are nearly done with their eras. Beyonce can't really surprise people again. Taylor Swift is taking a needed break. Bruno Mars hasn't said a thing about new material. Ariana Grande isn't looking so hot. Britney hasn't had a number one in 9 years. 

Gaga has 2016 in the bag. 

The last time Britney had a #1 it was in 2011 with Hold It Against Me gurl it wasn't 9 years ago. 

If you want to drag other artists to make Gaga look better, get at least your fact straight gurl.

Back in the day, we'd believe statements like this from someone like Jay. But so many of these big names are losing their touch and aren't keeping their promises anymore when it comes to who's going to be invested in. Music producers have got it wrong, industry bigwigs have got it wrong. They've had their peak and now are floundering as the business changes. The On The Run tour seemed like the last business venture Jay got right. But then artists started leaving his label because he wasn't trying hard enough to make them happen, the launched floppy Tidal and then he messed around with Rihanna's career and now Rita Ora's wanting to sue his label for career damages. A friend of mine once said: "The problem is, Jay's not heard the word no in about ten years." And he doesn't quite know what to do now that not everything he touches turns to gold. It's really hard to believe that he'd care about any artist other than Beyonce and Rihanna (although that one is a matter of opinion, currently) right now.

Gaga by no means has it in the bag. There's still always the threat that a new artist will come along and slay us all (even if they're not around forever). Lorde, Meghan Trainor, Sam Smith...they pop up out of nowhere and end up becoming one of the biggest names of the year. But yeah, she doesn't have all the usual threats. The only potential one we know about Is Beyonce but I doubt she can have an era like the last one again, not twice in a row, I think it was quite a one off. And while Adele may continue to have great album sales, there's no way any new singles are going to smash because everyone's bought the album. We didn't think there was competition back in 2013 but there clearly was, we were just rather delusional. But so many of the big names are either on the decline or on a break that there basically are no threats.
