Why do we care so much about the commercial success?!

The problem is that nowadays the fans want her to do what the GP wants.. And that is insane.Because her career is not based on that

Even Cheek to Cheek was what GP wanted imo. It's a classic which means people love that, and she did it in a classic way, the way people expected the standarts to sound like

Then why did CtC sell more than Pinkprint, Revival, Honeymoon and so so so on?

Because 1)Gaga has a big fanbase 2)It appealed to old people because of Tony

why ?

With less success Interscope won't permit her to get a lot of singles / videos out and songs on the radio...

Do You have a psychology degree? If not, then I don't think you're qualified to go around giving diagnosis.

Stanning is not exclusive to music. It can be anything from your favorite sports team to your favorite restaurant. And at the end of the day, if you stan something you want to see whatever it is be successful.

Now. are some people over the top when it comes to success? Yes. Do some people project their own issues into their faves? Most definitely. But I'm sick of y'all trying to throw "because they're a bottom and gay and like daddies blah blah blah" as some weak shade. That has nothing to do with why some people are obsessed with charts. Maybe they just like statistics. Maybe they just genuinely want Gaga to be successful. Live and let live.

I see your point and i apologize for my untasteful and offensive shade :ohno:

idk,i'm just obsessed with numbers and awards. I've always been this way .I remember when the Harry Potter movies came,i'd always check their box office collection.and i felt so great when it was announced that HP is the highest grossing series ever and broke tons of of box office records:laughga:

It doesn't change my opinion about her music though.i still listen to ARTPOP every now and then..(not the entire album).I love Gaga with passion and i like seeing on top.i love it when she's ruling the charts or making headlines.there's not any reason for it

Call me by your name and I'll call you by mine

I really don't think our fanbase is that powerful (and the most of us didn't buy it for sure. TIHTY didn't even get into Hot 100. Yes, CtC appealed to old people, but old people are not the only ones who bought it

I want her to be commercially successful because it leads to bigger tours and more fans to share our love with. There are so many people who bash gaga. It'd just be so refreshing to find someone who shares a positive opinion.

I am aware that a bigger tour wouldn't necessarily mean better tours, but it would mean better props and theatrics.

However, I would be here even if she was not a successful artist. So I guess I'm not fussed either way.

Maybe that would've counted in 2009 but not anymore :air: She's RICH.

She's rich now but still a worldwide tour costs a lot. Rihanna is rich too but she still sought sponsor from Samsung for her Anti World Tour. I guess if your album isn't doing well, you have to cut down your budget a little bit and sacrifice the things that would have been used should money wasn't a restriction. Also bigger albums tend to have bigger tours that visit more cities. Some fans haven't gotten the chance to see her live because she has still yet to visit certain countries whose fans that live within obviously, long for her arrival.

Also to answer the OP, commercial success still determines how award shows award songs and albums, even with the Grammy awards. Now you are going to tell me "why do awards matter as long as the music is good?"  Nominations lead to performances and a performance is always a cause to celebrate. I still think people bash ARTPOP because it underperformed, I have said this a million times, I'm gonna say it again, if ARTPOP won 5 Grammys and sold 10 million copies, it would have been interpreted differently. Sadly haters use the commercial underperformance of an album as an argument to attack the music. Perhaps this is why some people regard it important, to avoid future imbeciles holding opinions not based on the quality but the quantity.

Why can't she just scale down her touring then? Her "cheap" performances back in the day were far from unexciting and she could still tour the world with a smaller tour. I don't see why this fanbase is so obsessed with everything having to be enormous :air:

There are films with high budget and low budget, amazing products have come from both instances.

Why should Gaga restrict herself to only making low budget tours? What she needs to do is to put some effort into the promotion part of her singles/albums, and secure her tours in the future. I don't see how this is bad. It's not like we wanted her to make generic, basic pop music in order to attain this. Nothing has been sacrificed in the process of attaining commercial success.

According to you :rip: Apparently you forgot what Gaga has suffered because of Interscope forcing her to try to maintain the same kind of success (for reference, watch her Austin interview). Gaga tried to build an entire era around exactly the opposite of what you're saying.

I don't think she needs to do anything but carry out an artistic vision. There is no reason why an artistic vision should always require high budget tours or high budget anything. And to be completely fair, I think it's obvious by now that her creativity truly shines when she does not have a huge budget to her disposal. But that's just my personal opinion.

It's clear. If LG5 flops we won't get 5 high budget MVs like Taylor Swift, also the tour stage and decorations would be cheaper I think. The tour might be flop as well, so she doesn't have money to pay for dancers, great lighting etc. Simply like that

Gaga hasn't exactly had a high budget music video since Telephone since all of her music videos since then have been directed by photographers, herself and the haus. That's not a bad thing though since Born This Way is my favorite music video and Applause is cute.
