A lot are, if you are talking in the sense that the one that people regard as first album is the one that took them to mainstream success, but that is usually not the first record by the artist. I also usually like the follow up more than the big money making one and the media usually calls it a good attempt but not as great as their grand introduction album. An example would be Nirvana Nevermind and Nirvana In Utero and Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals. Also Lady Gaga The Fame and The Fame Monster.

I don't think anyone cares about Janet first 2 albums, lol. I thought Control was her debut until I google her.
