YAAAAAASSSS

I found the article. Sam definitely comes off as an open-minded person. I'm glad.

Some more choice quotes (not LGBT-related):

Hunt brings in influences from black culture and mixes them with modish imagery that doesn’t fit the old-fashioned norms of country masculinity, which require trucks, boots, beer and/or whiskey, and cute (but modest) girls in shorts.

“Respect for women was a very important part of my upbringing, (...) [t]he women in my life demanded that from me.”

“Traditionally,” says Hunt, “music has been a means of separating ourselves as people from another group of people. And now, music is starting to blend in a way that doesn’t allow us to do that as much.”

His band is performing beneath a banner with Hunt’s name and two rows of pastel flowers, a design the singer proposed after noticing an emerging trend for floral fashions. Can you name a male country singer who’s flowery? We’ll wait.

The cap says "femme" and features two interlocking female symbols.

I'm not trying to glorify Sam. After all, respect for other groups of people is the baseline for basic human decency, but it seems like some people (:green:) think that Sam has certain views just because he's a country artist. It's clear that he is more open-minded than he appears. He respects other groups of people and he doesn't fit the macho country stereotype. I feel like Sam Hunt, Taylor Swift, and Kacey Musgraves are part of a new generation of country artists who are more liberal and thus more palatable to left-leaning music fans. How exciting!

Also..

Funny how said people hate when others cast stereotypes on us as gay men, but don't have any issue throwing the "Oh, he's country AND has a Southern accent? He must be closed minded redneck trash!" stereotype on most people as soon as they find out they are from the American South :green:

Whispering

Saw him at a couple of music festivals and he can't sing live. I was disappointed, since country artists can sing well live most of the time. The exceptions are rare and he is one of them.

Seems like a nice guy, though.

His music isn't straight country. It's like a mix of country, synthpop, R&B, and hip-hop.

It may still not be up your alley, but who knows? I just want people to know that Sam Hunt's music could appeal to people who don't usually listen to country. :D

This video and this song gave me I Knew You Were Trouble teas so much lol, tell me I'm not going crazy.

Especially the instrumental, hoping he goes pop for his next album.

Montevallo (his debut album) isn't pure country though. You can hear a lot of hip hop/rnb on it. It's actually a mainstream album if you ask me. Hope he goes full pop next era.

I can totally see him doing real Pop/RnB without the country stuff

IDK about pop, but Sam's interested in making an R&B album!

He isn’t sure what his second record will sound like, though at some point he wants to make an album “that’s more purely R&B” and also an acoustic record “that’s more traditional country.” (x)
