Yea that sounds like Terrorism. Fire arms dont make Terrorists a Terrorists. The Airplanes on 9-11 Didnt involve 1 gun.

I mean the first definition Google gives for terrorism: "the unofficial or unauthorized use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims." I mean they have taken over a federal building and are threatening violence if their terms are not met. Plus there is a group of them, it can hardly be dismissed as a "mentally ill, lone wolf" type thing. On 1/3/2016 at 6:28 PM, Kayla said: What's interesting is what they're doing with their guns is exactly what many pro-gun people support; using them to protect yourself against the government, forming a citizen's militia to stand up against an (allegedly) unfair government. The criticisms raised in this thread are totally legitimate- if this were a group of muslims, mexicans, or black people doing the exact same thing, they would be met with force and people judging their entire race. But this will not be used to represent white people, they will not be used to inspire fear, and people will continue to ignore the fact that majority of terrorist attacks that have occurred on US soil have been white, christian, right-wing men. Quoting these, since some have issue with moderation. FreePalestine

Bebe 17,289
Whether people agree or do not, they have been labelled as terrorists by a CNN National Security Analyst: http://edition.cnn.com/2016/01/03/opinions/kayyem-oregon-building-takeover-terrorism/index.html This has been echoed by the Washington Post: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/01/03/why-arent-we-calling-the-oregon-militia-terrorists/ and large international headlines are remarking that they are terrorists: http://www.smh.com.au/world/why-arent-we-calling-the-oregon-occupiers-terrorists-20160104-glza7p.html Tom Mockaitis, who is an "International security analyst/military historian. Prof. of History, DePaul University [and] teaches counter- terrorism courses around the world." has written this for The Huffington Post: "I have a strong suspicion, though, that objections to the terrorist label are more visceral. Terrorists are supposed to be dark-skinned and non-Christian. People are thus quick to apply the term to outsiders and far more willing to find a gentler word to describe those from their own social group. If members of the Black Lives Matter or Occupy Wall Street movements had shown up to their protests as heavily armed as the men in Oregon, the same people defending the "militiamen" would probably be calling on the government to use all necessary force to apprehend the "terrorists."" http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tom-mockaitis/the-oregon-standoff-and-t_b_8910690.html?ir=Australia Whether you agree or you do not, the label "terrorist" has been picked up by many reputable news sources. If CNN, The Washington Post and The Huffington Post can call terrorism then I think the title is fine. If you want to argue that it isn't terrorism, that's your prerogative, but the title is fine from my perspective. Especially when it is taken into account that there are major news sources referring to them as "terrorists".

Morphine Prince 109,655
I'm glad people in this thread are debating on whether the word "terrorist" can be used in this situation and honestly it can go either way. I am choosing to call them terrorists. I love seeing how bothered people get. If these were not white men you KNOW "terrorism" or "thugs" would be thrown around without question. Maybe next time you'll re-consider the words you use against non-whites.
