Nicole 1,809
The music itself and the album as a whole is not bad. It's great, actually. I love it. The era, with the issues with management affecting the promo, music videos, all that jazz - it clouded many people's judgement who started to hate the album because of things that have nothing to do with the music. (I'm not saying that people can't not like the album, that's very well possible, we all have different tastes, but majority of the people who bash ARTPOP are not part of that group)
REALITY 76,254
The album was amazing, some people just can't understand the art of it. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
Manul 7,377
Not a single album has topped its quality (musically), since it got released. Venus, Dope, Aura (unfiltered), DWUW (solo) > your faves discographies. The management was a disastrous mess though. it wasn't laaaahv
Spock 20,290
Another "ARTPOP wasn't that bad/the era was a mess" thread In 2016 who will love me when the night is over
SISTERV 3,887
Personally, it's a fun well done album, but here is why I don't like it. 1. The title track is overrated, misplaced, and sounds oddly similar to Selena Gomez's "Love You Like A Love Song" which Gaga stated in 2012 (weirdly) was her favorite pop song of the year. 2. I don't care what you say, "Fashion!" is way too similar to Madonna's "Holiday". 3. The FACT that Mary Jane Holland, Donatella, and Aura all used pre-made recycled beats. Especially when Gaga was touting that her DJ producers made this stuff from scratch. 4. The fact that this was meant to be her most visual era, and we got two videos, and a sad excuse for a "revolutionary app". 5. The album feels congested. The only straying it does is on Dope and Jewels N' Drugs. One being an out of place depressing bender track that has nothing to do with the theme of the album, and another being an attempt to touch into hip hop in the most boring, meaningless, disingenuine way. 6. Lastly, the album got boring quick. All of Gaga's albums have held me over and stayed fresh for a year for me. I got bored with ARTPOP within 2 months of its release. Tove Lo - Queen of the Clouds Allie X - COLLXTION I BANKS - Goddess Marina and The Diamonds - FROOT and etc. ARTPOP is a disaster in production while all these albums mostly have no faults in production, don't sound... I don't really know how to put it without saying basic so I guess "cheap", and sound really fresh while being electronic (besides FROOT kind of). Even Allie X produced all the songs on her album while Gaga tried one song and it turned into a cringey disaster. Of course the last part is my opinion but I know other people who aren't Gaga fans who also don't really like the song much. ARTPOP has some bops but even those select few still have bad production. The album is decent but don't let the talent we all know Gaga has blind you from not so great quality of the album. Edit: Plus the fact you have to defend the album with versions of songs that weren't even on the album is really bad. hop on that **** like a maniac
ReidOne 12,427
I've been a fiercely loyal fan since "Just Dance" was her only song in 2008, but ARTPOP is by far my favorite album and era of her career. The entire project, I believe, was the most intensely creative output she has ever achieved. It's like an onion --- layers upon layers of meaning that are completely unapparent unless you begin peeling them away. Don't forget, ARTPOP was never about chasing the success of her past hits. It was all about inspiring her fans to be creative themselves and honor all the unique talents that lie within each of us. And not apologizing for expressing those talents. No matter how "the masses" may react or reject it. If it is your artistic expression, it is beautiful. And it worked... I mean, look at all the fan art and creativity that has blossomed in the Gaga fandom since it's release. The artRAVE shows were the perfect expression of this. I've never seen a more genuinely inspiring release from a pop act. And there's no Gaga album I have ever played more times. The music is incredible!! Riot Poof 2,236
ARTPOP stays being my favorite Gaga album. Spoiler Until LG5 drops. I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand.

giskardsb 12,565
The ARTPOP ball was my favorite tour. It was the most spontaneous and free feeling show, more like one of her festival shows. BTW is my favorite album but the tour show was overwhelmed by too many props and theatricality getting in the way of the songs. ARTPOP ( the song), Aura, Sexxx Dreams, Dope, MJH, and GUY all sit comfortably among some of my favorite Gaga songs.

I tried giving ARTPOP a listen on vinyl again and Venus came on because it's on side A. I couldn't skip it so I listened all the way till the bridge but I got so annoyed with it that I turned off the record player. Haven't tried listening to ARTPOP again since. It also came on shuffle one time when I was with my friend and she said some parts are okay though other parts are also pretty cringey. hop on that **** like a maniac

Too bad people forget that ARTPOP and artRAVE were about inspiring art and creativity and was not about numbers. People want to turn everything into charts and awards, while Gaga is all about creative art and people. I'm glad Gaga resists making music mostly for the purpose of charts and awards even when management and label try to steer her that direction. I live outside the space time continuum. gagzus 15,829
in my mind it's her third (technically second) best album to me because for me; BTW = TF > AP > TFM MJH, SD, AP & Donatella alone > TFM for me
