Hating the player, but respecting their game.

Hello all, I had a quick question for the GGD users here. There seems to be an overwhelming amount of "Tayting" aka "Taylor Hating". My question is, as Gaga stans, who works so intricately with co-writers, producers, Music video directors, basically EVERYTHING when it comes to her career. How come you can't respect an artist who does the same? Everyone tries to minimize Taylor's accomplishments, meanwhile last year they were applauding them....so what gives, GGD?

Every popstar (including Gaga) is hated on this site by some people. You can't stop that. People are envious, when someone else is successful. That's all.

I don't hate on her. I find her music often entertaining. I do understand the polarization though. Gaga pokes boundaries and seeks to step out of the line in various ways. Taylor seeks to stay within the lines as much as possible and epitomizes the most polished and entertaining that vanilla can be. What attracts someone to Taylor MAY push them away from some of what Gaga does. What attracts someone to Gaga MAY push them away from much of what Taylor does (or doesn't do).

As far as "art" goes, Taylor is like the most talented coloring-book color-er of all time... its all inside the lines but its still pretty and well executed.

I think it's part of the pop cycle and, yes, it's quite irrational...I feel people just want to be a part of the "moment", of the group behavior. 

Like, remember when the media started promoting her relentlessly? A lot of people who didn't give a damn about her before "Shake it off" suddenly became die hard fans...it's part of the same behavior. When the narrative in the media changed, public opinion changed with it and then talking about her lawsuits became a thing and so did criticizing her constant bringing people up on the stage, etc., etc., etc.... 

I don't think it's fair, but, for some reason, it's how it works and it's been like this for a long, long time...the new element to it, I guess, is that now who one "stans for" informs one's very idea of self, it really becomes part of their identity, which is why people react so violently when these stars are attacked, bc they feel it as a personal attack...which is comprehensible, but not very healthy...

And don't single GGD out, because you'll find the same behavior everywhere else...and at least here most of the things I've read people say about her are clearly jokes, like putting "tm" after her name or calling her "sueift" - it's not "she has no talent, she's a **** and she should die!".

EDIT: also, try to think of things in the long run, cuz you're just focusing on a bad moment...like, think of Bette Davis in the start of her career being constantly attacked by Louella Parsons in the newspapers (which turned the public opinion against her at times)...it was harsh and unnecessary, but Bette's talent, star quality, "profitability" prevailed throughout her career and despite all attacks she died as a legend of the silver screen...so, in the end of the day, these attacks don't really matter...I think Taylor has talent enough to, after this moment has passed, keep on doing her thing and eventually receive all the rewards she deserves...

Just no. When it comes to Gaga, other fanbases dont give a **** if she wins a diamond award, or if she's good at acting, singing, writing, dancing, touring, dressing, modeling and everything she does. 

IMO Taylor has a huge marketing program behind and I don't see that raw talent that I see on Gaga, so don't expect me to applaud her just for selling records. I liked her back when she released Fearless as I found interesting how she became big and won grammys with a country album, but now she's just another popstar with a nice face and doesn't have that inner scent that made her special for me. She just does nothing for art and doesn't risk at all, just like Katy.

Unfortunately fan bases create hate for their own faves in cases of Katy and Madonna (for example, and I'm not generalizing the fan base) where their fans create fake accounts to like their own comments on Gaga videos. Taylor fans don't do the same but I've also noticed that no one is calling Adele a money w**re even though she did the same with her copyrighted content. Tell me, why is Taylor the center of hate?

ot: but yes, there's a lot unjustified hate towards Taylor on this site, but that seems to be the thing now. in a few months, the site will move on to a new artist.

I said that I don't see it now. can you read my comment better please? I liked her when she was real and personal, not now that she's a pre-fabricated popstar ruled by a record company.
