Born To Die.

I'm a massive Lana fan and I don't even own Honeymoon, so that says a lot about what I think about her latest musical effort.

Honeymoon >= Ultraviolence > Born To Die >>>>>> Paradise

Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride

1. BTD/Paradise are my faves. Those songs just don't get old to me. It's one of my favorite albums of all time. The production is amazing. Those strings...  I really hope she works with Emile Haynie again.

2. Ultraviolence second. I loved this album from the first listen. I think it's her most cohesive body of work. However these songs don't have as much as a lasting power with me as BTD does.

3. Honeymoon. While it's not my fave, I do love this album and I think it gets way too much hate. I think the biggest disappointment of this album with me is the production. The music just did't feel loud enough on this one if that makes any sense? It felt like something was missing. I think if it was executed better I would love it as much as her other albums.

Ultraviolence, then just right after is Honeymoon, then BtD/Paradise :emma:

When Honeymoon came out, it was my clear favorite, but honestly some of my favorite albums by any artist or group have sentimental attachments to them, and Ultraviolence will always be the soundtrack to my Summer-onset Seasonal Affective Disorder, and in that way it really helped me get through a lot of things and keep me calm. It still does. Ofc, there are individual songs on the album I do not care for at all (F***ed my Way Up To The Top imo is one of her most uneventful songs ever minus the "I'm a dragon, you're a *****" line :smh: ) and the same with Honeymoon. I think the high of CW>UV>SoC>BB>WC is pretty much flawless, and those are all some of my favorite songs of all time. Black Beauty, Is This Happiness, Flipside, The Other Woman, and Florida Kilos too :flutter: Honestly the whole "narco swing" and black and white moody aesthetic just gets me. I literally just want to sway to this album, and the "California" vibe is all over the record, its truly personified for me here. If I had to think of one line that summarizes this whole album from a feel kind of perspective, its the Guitar strumming into the Chorus followed by "I can see my baby swaying" from West Coast :flutter:  It's also my favorite Lana album cover by FAR. I also think the title is absolute GENIUS and it's all over the record in different ways. I've spent a lot of time analyzing and interpreting this record tbh :laughga:

It immediately puts me in a nostalgic mood, probably more so than any other album I own  Lemme stop fangirling though :gaycat:

Honeymoon, I think I like much more of the album on a song-by-song basis. I wish it had a deluxe or just a song to replace Burnt Norton, and I actually quite dislike "Religion." The Trap-influenced Trio in the middle of the album is pretty fantastic, especially since its seamless. I wish more of the record were seamless like that, but the track order does seem a bit random to me, minus Swan Song at the end. Maybe its because the songs have so many different moods all at once? I thin the album shows off the most sides of Lana in one record, which is both good and bad depending on how you look at it. If I think of the production, I dont even know how to characterize the second half of the album which kind of bothers me :rip: Still, Songs like The title, TLY, Salvatore, GKIT, Freak, and TBD are all such amazing standalone tracks, thats probably why I liked it more than UV. I think it has less lasting presence because its a bit disjointed. Im still waiting for her cinematic orchestral album  Honeymoon (the song) set me up for it :smh:

Rant over :emma:

Ultraviolence, definitely. It's iconic in every single way. Those melodies and lyrics are amazing, very sincere (although every album is a pleasure to listen). Ultraviolence is Lana at her angriest. Come on guys, Shades of Cool and Brooklyn Baby are in it!

Paradise is close tho. The overall message is very inspiring.

Ultraviolence >>>> Honeymoon > Born To Die > Paradise > Sirens >> Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant

They're all unique in their own way though. I love the psychedelic elements of Ultraviolence and how dark some of the songs are. Honeymoon is so different but the songs are equally as impressive, although it just doesn't have as interesting a concept as Ultraviolence. Born To Die is in some aspects over-produced but songs like OTTR and Blue Jeans are just too good. I probably use Paradise the least, although it contains Ride and Body Electric, two of my top 10 Lana tracks. Sirens is beautifully simple but it does get a bit repetitive and I struggle to tell most songs apart. Then AKA is just not that great, although has a couple of amazing tracks (QOTGS, OSCYS, RME (MS)).

Lana's one my favourite artists so all her albums are treasures.

Hard to tell, I love every song on every album, except for DMD and HBTB
