being in sync with the show, having a character, all that theatrics jazz, dancing helps a lot, props such as a giant monster (Monster Ball) or a disco stick or a giant tiger :laughga:

I would rather Gaga just sang with her amazing voice :flutter:, which she occasionally does (e.g., at the Oscars)

Really hun? That was not a dig on Madonna whatsoever. Like I clearly acknowledged she was a great performer by saying that people could argue for her being the best....

I didn't put her on my personal list only because I don't think she is close to how good she was in her prime and I wanted to represent performers that are the top of the top rn. That's not to say Madonna is a bad performer these days, that's clearly not true, but the woman is in her 50's and it's taking a toll.

Madonna in the 1980's and 1990's is incomparable. If you believe she is still at the top, or that you want to include vintage Madonna on your list than go ahead.

My lorde. I can't believe someone has just accused me of being a madge hater :deadbanana:

Madonna dances harder and with more energy on the current Rebel Heart Tour aged 57 than Gaga did during artRAVE or the BTWB. That might be an unpopular opinion on GagaDaily, but I've seen all those shows and it's simply true.

If you really want to talk about performers who are "on top right now", you simply can't include Gaga at the moment. artRAVE underperformed on all levels. Ticket sales, creativity, choreo, .... A hot mess from beginning to end and somehow you can all find excuses for that and still include Gaga on lists like these while the woman simply hasn't had an epic tour since the Monster Ball. Gaga vocally wins, of course, but that does not make her a pop performer comparable with the "best right now". Pink is great, don't get me wrong, but seriously? She's been doing the acrobatic thing for years, it's the ONLY trick up her sleeve. Madonna might be 57 and slay slightly less choreo than let's say, 2002 Britney Spears, but damnit she's closer than all the other current pop girls. Neither Taylor, Gaga, Pink, Nicki, Miley, Ariana, Katy or any other current big popstar holds a candle to Madonna's CURRENT stage presence and choreo abilities. The only one that comes close to touching Madonna live-wise, is Beyonce. Like Gaga, she's also a clearly better vocalist than Madonna but unlike Gaga, she doesn't rely solely on that talent. Like Madonna, Beyonce is a tireless, dedicated, disciplined performer and even said during her self-titled presentation she wanted to follow in Madonna's "powerhouse footsteps". You can't include Gaga with 2014's mess of a pop tour, then say Madonna's age is "taking a toll" when Gaga hasn't really done anything original or noteworthy in recent years when it comes to her pop tours.

Oh and by the way, out of all of these performers, Madonna has new choreography for her hits EVERY.SINGLE.TOUR. Beyonce, despite being an A+ level performer, has been doing the uh-oh dance to Crazy In Love since 2003 and kept most of her original dance routines for years now. Gaga has also kept all of her old routines and THAT is where time has really taken it's toll, or are you going to tell me Bad Romance at artRAVE is on-par with Bad Romance live in 2010/2011?

Madonna at 40-57 > most of the "current girls" between 20-35. Except for Beyoncé. And now I'm going to leave these videos here, in the hope you TRY to dispute anything I just said and simply rest my case. Here are three clips from the last tours Madonna's done (SuperBowl is basically a mini MDNA Tour preview/compilation.) Please find me a video of Gaga in recent times where she presents this much stage persona and energy. Or a cohesive pop performance by Pink where she isn't strapped into a harness doing Cirque Du Soleil acrobatics. That does NOT make her the best pop performer.

And I can't wait for an official Rebel Heart Tour performance to include on this list.

I definitely would have to say Gaga. One of the many reasons why I am such a big fan of hers is because of how great she is on stage. If those other women capitivated me on the same level, I would stan them equally, but I don't.

Somehow Gaga manages to just slay every performance and I don't even know how, maybe she's magic, but she's amazing. The other ladies are great too don't get me wrong, but the reason why I stan Gaga is because of how incredible she is. She's the only pop star I stan hard for so I would have to say her.

lol, I still don't know why you are coming at me when I have stated that I know Madonna is a great performer :smh:
I still think Madonna is a great performer, hence why I mentioned her in OP.

The videos and gifs you have provided are among the worst of her more 'recent' performances though so :rip:
Like the Bitch I'm Madonna performances were super cheesy.

The only exception is Music at the Sticky and Sweet WW tour, which is great but hardly exceptional. The super bowl is great too, but it's also clear how her abilities as a dancer has decreased. I mean Beyonce's superbowl performance >>> imo. I mean Gaga isn't a trained dancer like Madonna, but her choreography is better than Madonna's now. I mean Applause VMA and DWUW AMA are two performances that has more complex choreography.

Either way it's fine that you believe Madonna to still be the best performer. I think it's a little disappointing that you trying to take down artists like P!nk and Gaga which wasn't the purpose of this thread. I mean I wasn't a huge fan of ArtRave but I can show 3 outstanding performances this year that show her ability and diversity as a live performer.

Whether it's her charming and gender-bending vocal performance of New York, New York

or her emotional Till It Happens To You performance

or her vocally impressive and universally acclaimed performance at the Oscars

Madonna is an absolutely fantastic performer, she set the standard and I don't think any performer since has really reached the bar she set. I just don't think she had delivered any real exceptional performance in recent years. It's understandable and she is still certainly much better than the majority of artists out there today but I didn't think she is up to the level atm.

If you believe she is than fantastic, I'm really not trying to argue with your choice, I'm just defending myself from claims I'm some Madonna basher. Which really is ludicrous tbh and if you knew me then you would know how preposterous that is.

As for you dismissing P!nk as just doing "Cirque Du Soleil acrobatics" as if that's not ****ing hard and super impressive :smh: How can you say that P!nk is a one trick pony after just arguing that Madonna is still doing dance choreography after an entire career. Like could you imagine if someone was like "All Britney does is dance routines!! Like she is a one trick pony" It's a little silly.

This video only shows a glimpse of the work that goes into such performances.

If you want other performances where she isn't flying through the sky though:

People here also miss the fact that gaga is a skilled performer in smaller settings like in clubs and bars which require a different type of performance and audience interaction skills.

gaga is a also performer when she is off the stage. I would also include her red carpet entrances and steping in and out hotel/ home moments as little performances. She's the ONLY artist out there who take these moments seriously and often turn them into headlines and fashion/social statements

GlitterAndGrease

1. Madonna: She is the queen for a reason. She gives her all on stage. Her singing is decent but her dancing and visuals are just flawless. Her shows are always the best ones as a whole

2. Beyonce: Her choreographies are not the hardest ones but her energy is unbeleavable.her vocals are crazy good (even if she lipsynchs half of her performances)she sounds flawless and that matters the most. I also love her simplistic staging/sets and that the show focuses on her abilities and her huge band. Her shows are musically the best.

3. TIE: Britney Spears/ Lady Gaga

Britney Spears: If that poll was held in 2004 Britney would be number one because her dancing 1998-2004 was the best in the bussiness. But it's almost 2016 and Britney is not the same girl anymore 12 years, 1 marriage, 2 kids, 1 knee surgery, millions of other problems and mental health problems later. Yes she had a triumphant comeback in lte 2008 but she still isn't fully back. But if you check her december 27-28 Vegas shows you will see that she has the performer's spark, the energy, the looks, the charisma the body and partially the moves back. She always has a great tour concept, the best tour remixes an amazing stage (except FFT SA) and most people leave her show impressed.

Lady Gaga: If that poll was held in 2011 she would come at no1. She has a better voice than any of the above (basically she has the best vocals in the whole bussiness) she is very creative and innovative with her stage shows. But even before her hip injury i think something was wrong with her dancing. (she looked stiff and the same choreography that looked phenomenal on the promo tour looked awful on the btwb tour). Then the hip injury came and her dancing only went downhill. I was happy to see her slaying her choreos at the VMA and AMA. but that was it. The dancing at the artrave was lackluster and looked bad at times (applause was terrible) but this didn't make my artrave concert any worse. I still cried for a good amount of time (ARTPOP, you and I and gypsy). Her shows are lways innovative and unique

Well, I loved the Bitch I'm Madonna performances and she was praised everywhere for her energy in them. In those three clips you just posted, Gaga shows vocal diversity, not stage presence. It's a ballad, a jazz song and a tribute to a musical. That's VOCAL DIVERSITY, not "the best living female performer" in the pop arena. So if you want to make this about vocal talent, obviously Madonna loses out to Gaga. I'm not delusional. Credit where credit is due. But if you are making this about vocal talent, there is no way in HELL any audience other than Gaga fans would say "Oh I think Lady Gaga". Ask anyone right now who's the best vocalist in the game and I bet you 85% of people you'd ask this on the street in Europe or the US would tell you Adele. So where is she on this list of yours?

As for the acrobatics, I can't even. We are talking about simply going on a stage and OWNING it, not jumping off of it. If I drop down from the ceiling at my local talent show and am being twirled in sheets while hanging on a rope, I'd also win, but that's not the point, is it? That Try performance incorporates modern dance, yes, props to her for that, but it is STILL playing the acrobatic/stunt card. The Raise Ur Glass performance is incredible, most cohesive choreo I've ever seen Pink do. But her most famous live ability is the stunts/acrobatics. Madonna's most famous live ability is simply owning it, no matter what she does. And THATS what makes her the best performer, past and present.

HER ENERGY.

3o85xuTnGtkjKno98Y.gif

Talking about "acclaimed" with that Oscar performance, have you read the reviews for the Rebel Heart Tour? Even NME, who HATE Madonna, have praised it. I am 100% with you that Gaga slayed that stage that night. With her VOICE and ONE ARM-THROW. That is NOT a reason to forget the absolute mess that was her last pop tour. You know, the field that is considered her main territory.

"Applause VMA and DWUW AMA are two performances that have more complex choreography than Madonna does now." You're kidding me, right? Applause VMA was great and she owned that one but it did NOT have complex choreography. It had complicated costume changes, not dance moves. And the AMA one was clearly a struggle for Gaga, she did not own that performance at all. Two members of her team QUIT after 2013 X-Factor by the way because of the messy performance and Gaga changing everything last minute, then blaming her team. Madonna would rather die than change anything last minute. When Madonna took a dive at the BRITS, it was because of a last minute change with the tie of the cape, but she would never scrap an entire routine and have people come up with new outfits 30 minutes before the show goes live. It's in a newspaper article somewhere, when one of Gaga's assistants saw the seashell drop off the bra (because they had no time to let the glue dry) and her mess of a performance, he quit. She was not in a good place at the time, I understand that, but that does not excuse her mess of an era. Do you not see how big of a difference there is between artRAVE and Rebel Heart/MDNA? Or even artRAVE and The Monster Ball? Applause VMA was the only recent pop-performance that is mention worthy. Other than that, it all goes back to the hey days before the breakdown or we're talking about epic vocal performances like the Oscars and C2C.

Oh and Madonna has also had her fair share of stunts... But it never defined her career.

:laughga: Honey I never wanted to get into an essay writing competition with you, because I'm not even really sure why you're so pressed that Madonna is in my top 5 rather than top 3.

Just a few quick things though:

1. Vocals are important to performance, it's one of Gaga's strengths and yes she showed stage presence in all 3. Especially the Frank Sinatra tribute. Comparing her to Adele is completely silly btw, if you didn't notice I tried to pick 3 performances from this year that were different, showing her diversity as a performer. A diversity that Madonna lacks at this age imo.

2. You couldn't drop down from the ceiling at you local talent show and spin around like P!nk. If you can't appreciate her acrobatic skill then fine, but acting as if choreographed dance is more impressive is close minded really.

3. I only picked examples from this year to show that she is still a great performer. No it's not choreography based but you were throwing around examples from 2006. I mean I'm cool with that, but if we are going to play like that then I could show many performances that are better than the three I posted.

4. I've already said I didn't like ARTrave. I don't think picking her worst tour is indicative of her abilities as a performer though...

5. Stop trying to convince me that Madonna is a good performer. I don't know how many times I need to tell you that I know. She just isn't in my top 3. If she is for you, fantastic.

I'm not even delving into the massive essays over the past few pages but as much as I like Madonna you're massively placing her on a completely unnecessary pedestal :emma: Discrediting what P!nk can do just because she does it differently to Madonna (and to a lesser extent Gaga) is a pretty narrow point of view, as well as a narrow interpretation of what it means to be the 'best performer'. If anything, surely if P!nk is one of the few major performers not trying to be in Madonna's lane it's more for her as to why she's so good?

Although FWIW, I agree with Madonna being the best living female performer and it being a bit random to exclude her from the poll considering so many people are mentioning her :flop:

The only reason she wasn't included is because I wanted at least 3 videos for each performer (so that people could really get a sense of them as a performer) and didn't want to clog up the OP with too many artists and videos.

I obviously had to include Gaga, Beyonce is highly recognised for her abilities as a performer and I think P!nk is sort of the underrated underdog who breaks touring records but is still never really appreciated. Plus I'm Australian so P!nk is the biggest performer in my country.

Madonna is fantastic, but she was obviously a far greater performer in her early years so I thought it would be better to select more current talents. I didn't want to start adding polls for people who didn't get a mention in OP and it wasn't really supposed to be a competition anyway, more so a celebration of great performers.

Because I am PRESSED as f*ck that you wouldn't include Madonna in a thread called "best living female performer". It just doesn't make any sense. That is Madonna's frigging title, she's the queen of touring and we all know it's not her vocal talent that got her to be the Queen of Pop, Madonna is all about live performance. The woman set the f*cking standard (which you've said yourself) for female pop performers, especially the theatrical tours. Both creatively and commercially Madonna has excelled. Blond Ambition is literally in the history books, it's a symbol for it's time and a standard for modern day touring. CT, S&S and MDNA all beat records. Since CT she's the highest grossing female artist, and she beat that own record with S&S and then MDNA made her the highest grossing solo artist of all time. That tour wrapped up 3 years ago, how is that not recent for you? It's been 2,5 years since the Applause performance. Madonna has a 30+ year career in pop music, her peers are either dead or kinda irrelevant and she's out here slaying. Her last three tours broke gross and attendance records, had amazing reviews and were praised everywhere, how much more recent do you wanna get? Her current one is smaller and will not beat her own record but fans are very happy to have a warmer Madonna back since MDNA was a very dark tour. There is still an enormous demand for Madonna and for that alone she deserves to win this poll, but you didn't even place her up there. It's like making a thread/poll about the greatest female tennis players and then forget to include Serena Williams. It doesn't make sense because everyone else outside of this forum has decided a long time ago Madonna is an A+ performer and she's seen as the inventor of female showmanship as we know it today. Her trackrecord speaks for itself but you still ignored it.

I'm not discrediting what Pink can do but first of all she's pop/rock, secondly she only started to be a bit of a touring force (especially in Australia) BECAUSE of her well-documented acrobatics. She still lacks in the choreo and overall showmanship departement compared to Madonna. Or Beyoncé.

I still love how my last posts in this thread simply silenced it. Like, y'all realised I wasn't letting that go...

I stopped cause I thought you were taking it to serious and getting all emotional and I didn't care as much as you clearly did. Like you were taking this **** personal even despite me telling you that I think Madonna is one of the greats :smh:

I just didn't see a point in trying to have a conversation with someone who is so emotional. You turned such a light hearted opinion based thread asking who was people's favourite performer into "OMG MADONNA IS STILL THE BEST WTF THIS IS HOW MUCH HER TOUR EARNED - ASK ANYBODY AND THEY WOULD AGREE WITH ME WTF YOU ARE DELUSIONAL I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT CURRENTLY SHE ISN'T IN YOUR TOP 3 EVEN THOUGH OUT OF ALL TIME YOU SAY SHE WOULD BE #1"

I just thought it got embarrassing  It was super defensive, for like no reason at all and like I had stated from the first replies, I had no desire to reply to the essays you wrote that where filled with nothing relevant or objective.

not sure why madonna fans always show the worst examples. still good compared to many others, but just "ok" for madonna.

at least show "keep it together" from blond ambition or her eccentric art shows

amazing choreo

amazing voice and charisma
