Power-Pop Ga

so, both MANiCURE and Speechless could be considered associated with the "power-pop" sub-genre, although like any genre the definitions are slippery. And her live shows I think certainly up the power pop quotient of her music when she adds in the live band arrangements.  I'd argue that some of the live versions of Bad Romance certainly qualify as power pop.  That underlying sensibility is why Gaga has so many rock fans in her fanbase, as compared to other pop stars.  How would you feel about a large dose of power-pop on LG5?  When Gaga says "back to her roots" it's not out of possibility for something like this.  I don't think it's out of the question, given that RedOne has rock roots and Gaga certainly has rock roots.

Powerpop was actually coined by Pete Townsend of "The Who", although ironically nobody really calls "The Who" a power-pop band.  It does make sense though, they certainly had a higher level of pop sensibility in their music; some bands slipped in and out of the genre, like Queen. Queen for sure had some of the most successful power-pop ever done though.  For more recent examples, it could be argued that much of P!nk's latest "Truth about Love" album could fall in the power pop genre, and she was quite success with that.  Power-Pop runs from the Beatles to The Who to BadFinger to the Knack to the Romantics to Queen and many others.  It's basically pop in the rock style but not soft rock.

besides Speechless and MANiCURE, some other examples of what could be considered power-pop-ish from Gaga's own work:

and some other power pop

I'd consider that a rock ballad rather than power-pop, but the genres can blur together for sure.

I'm confused. Do you mean Anthematic pop? Because the examples you gave outside of the Who are not power pop.

OT: some songs could be power pop but honestly I wouldn't want a whole album of that because it gets old very quickly I.E. 10-12 tracks of that.

I find power pop a bit hard to define, it's true.

If LG5 has songs like TEOG and MTN, I'd be totally slayed.  I have a feeling she's going to go for a more mature sound for her next album.  I think she's going to give us something totally unexpected.  I'm really excited for what's to come, tbh.  :excited:

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.
