We, meaning his caucasian Republican voters, need to "protect ourselves". From what exactly? From guns? Not really, cause he wants more guns in order to stop violence. Totally logical right? More guns to stop other guns. Really smart idea, NOT! And how about his other ideas to "protect ourselves"? That great big fat wall around the US border? Sure, totally worth the enormous price tag in order to create even MORE illegal human trafficking.
