PretentiousGa?

I think Gaga is not pretentious, she sometimes exaggerate things to make it look better and bigger than it is, but from her tone and expression you can tell she's bullshitting and she knows it. I take them as jokes, sometimes I agree to her exaggerations. But mostly I take her seriously and I don't find her pretentious often.

Totally true. I noticed this too, sometimes I cringe so hard when reading her magazine interviews even. Like when she talked about not being able to properly express herself to her fiance so she writes a song to communicate with him better. :wtf: What is this, Glee? I can't with some of the things she says at times.

What? xD A song says a lot more than just words. It catches melodies, feelings and emotions in it without having to use 13534 words to try to explain something. What's wrong with that? Why do you understand it as pretentious? I'm just curious :P

I don't think that she writes songs all the time only to "send" him messages like "go out with the trash" for example  I think that she meant that she wrote a song to him as an act to explain to him how she feels about him.

This is interesting because I don't see Gaga as pretentious but seems like many do :wtf:

I mean, I get somehow what you mean, but I take what she says in a serious way. I see her as an honest person, and if she sounds pretentious to some people, well... what should we do? Should Gaga change her mind?

There have been some times, for example where she talked about The app, the perfume, some specific songs (hair) and newly at that 1 hour long meeting with Nytimes talking about The Hunting Ground, where she seems a little bit bored that she has to talk so so much and repeat things a lot of times to different people in order to get understood... Maybe that's where she seems pretentious to you guys? But idk I just see past that.

Of course she's pretentious. But she doesn't realize it, so it's strangely cute.

I just hoped she would stop being like that after ARTPOP's failure but then I heard what she said at the last Billboard Music Awards, and I cringed...

It's her personality.

Can you explain further more? :gaycat:

I'm sorry, I have mentioned multiple times that I don't think it's her intention to come off in a way that some causal fans see as pretentious. I don't understand why YOU and multiple people cannot read in this thread and understand what was being said. Good day.

My post had nothing to do with you in particular, I  could care less.

Taylor, Adele, Katy, Rihanna, basically her peers?

Why should Katy and Rihanna be pretentious about their "artistry" - it's not even artistry, they are just happy that they are pop stars, it don't bothers them that they are just make plastic or that Taylor Swift imitates a teenager to sell records. Of course big mainstream popstars always are also products in some way - but behind this Gaga persona there is a real artist which wanted for example to release Aura as the first single, that says a lot about Gaga. ( btw: i don't like this song ) Also about the fact who worked on ARTPOP as the main producer, an absolute unknown DJ.
Gaga wants also to be famous, but she has artistry demands on herself - its not about supplied plastic from Dr. Luke and Sia. So of course her ego swells a little bit when she see how unmusical but more like plastic formulas are some of them are. But i agree, it would better if Gaga don't talks about them at all.

Btw: You should look closer how pretentious Rihanna is to her fans.

I personally don't care about the most mainstream singers in these days, they can't give me something useful to me. The most interesting things you find in the underground or in the past. Gaga is very entertaining and gifted, i do not like everything she does, but i take her often serious and i respect her view of many things, like for example her idea of a pop star.

Maybe you should clear that up then. Don't want to seem rude.

She, sometimes, tries to be a tiddy bit more than she is. It comes as borderline pretentious.

I understand people get this idea of her because she tries very hard to defend herself, that she is different than the other pop artists. It comes across as if she's trying to diminish other artists.

So she wasn't strong enough..it happens. With the level of criticism she got, it you drive anyone insane. This really took a toil on her overall image.

I tell you, even myself, if she goes on explaining why LG5 is so good and blah blah, even i'll find a door to leave.

when people don't get art, they call it pretentious.poor them :derpga:

She's been making art since The Fame days, without having to mention the word every 2 minutes.

I'm not saying she became pretentious but she overused the word since the BTW era and people thought it was pretentious, I can't blame these people, can't blame Gaga either.

Misunderstandings happen!

During The Fame and the Fame Monster, many were drawn to her from all walks of life. However, she also got lots of **** from people daily who did not take her seriously, if ever.

They saw her as a gimmick, kept questioning her name, her style, her references, her talent, and her performances. People rumored that she was a man who tucked it in. Even goddamn correspondents from CNN and Barbara Walters asked her about the rumors. If pretentious means you like and stand by your work, maybe many mistook her humor, her confidence, or her art.

The world is a shitty, wonderful place. Everyone needs to make the most of it while they are alive and in their prime. There are many ugly forms of pride, but hers wasn't one of them to me.

Do your own research.
