I never said dance music had to be happy and lighthearted. Remixing a song that was originally a piano ballad about rape (no matter how vague the lyrics are) into a dance remix that people bop to without understanding the meaning of the song just doesn't sit right with me. In addition, the video for the remix uses footage from the original video and edited it using EDM aesthetics, which seems to trivialize the message of the original video. Disagree with me all you want. Bop to it as much as you want. It's just that the whole thing is a bit unpleasant to me. NBD. I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand.
Allan 3,875
Well, the lyrics are relatable if you don't know they're about rape, maybe that's why it's being remixed and played at nightclubs, people listen and dance to it as it's a superation/you-don't-know-my-life-so-stop-judging-me song Yet the fact that they used the actual video as a backdrop for the remix is... weird... but you know, pop fans usually overthink a lot about songs and videos, but the GP doesn't think as much, maybe it was something like "oh, new Gaga song, let's play it". squeala 875
i don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to reinterpret the song outside the context of rape and abuse. gaga and diane rewrote the song to be relevant to everyone. those lyrics are beautiful, poignant, and empowering no matter your life experiences playing the video in a club is probably a bit much though

I was saying that the people dancing to the remix at the clubs (or at least some of them) don't/may not understand the meaning of the song, not whoever remixed it. Pero like, whatever. I don't wanna discuss this anymore. I'll still feel how I feel regardless of the intentions behind it. Please stop grilling me. I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. LaLuna 12,732
I like the fact that it's successful because it's meant to raise awareness about a very serious issue, but this song is not meant to be a generic dance track played in clubs. Can you imagine someone going "Oh ****, hold my purse, this is my jam!!!"
Zsolti 2,688
I have genuinely NO idea whatsoever , like where do these clubs even FIND the REMIXES when it's an empowerment ballad bubbling under the hot 100? Why is it even appropiate to play them in clubs? Lmao, it just doesn't add up. This is really strange Please correct me if I make any grammar mistakes, I want to master English as much as possible.
