Also, if you plan to watch the first episode, there's a specific disturbing scene involving a demon wearing a drill bit dildo raping people.

Scary? No. Suspenseful, yes.

But if you can't stand the sight of blood, then it's definitely not for you.

Neither any if AHS are scary as in you will sleep with the lights on after you watch The Conjuring, The Ring, The Grudge or The Exorcist.

Yes they are bloody and gory.

But to me, the horror in the title are more to analysis of how horrific people can be. In each series we are shown examples of it from many characters in there.

Love, ambition, lust, anger, revenge, etc which turns people mad beyond saving.

REALITY

It's not really scary per say. I've never watched an episode of AHS until this one, so I sort of had the same fear as you do. There's quite of bit of blood and gore, so if that stuff scares you, then I wouldn't recommend it. The killing itself isn't scary, but again, there's a lot of blood and gore.

Oh, and there are some jump-scares, not a whole lot though. But overall, it isn't scary.

No it's not scary at all in my opinion. In fact none of AHS seasons have been scary at all, I think the scariest was Asylum which was a good thing? I mean it's supposed to be the genre horror.

I don't think people watch AHS to get scared, we watch it for the plot and how the story behind these characters, the connection and everything else. It's this virtual world Ryan Murphy created that we're interested in. In fact I wish it was scarier cause I feel literally no fear from the show at all.

The only thing scary about this series is the TV ratings.....falling like a lead balloon.

None of the AHSs have been scary or horrific. They don't leave you awake in the night wondering if something is outside your window.

they're more or less horror based dramas. They're more suspenseful than actually scary. It's more about the horror inside a human being and the fears of a person than actual fear.
