I don't care if Gaga wins another grammy

I assume this thread will annoy many people but I know we all get excited when Gaga wins a grammy and it's totally normal. To me winning a grammy isn't something that's hold to a high standard anymore. The grammys have lost their credibility over the last 10+ years. If Gaga wins a grammy for Til It Happens To You then I'll be happy for her of course but if she doesn't then I still won't care because the song itself can stand on its own two feet and it holds an emotional message to many people who have experienced traumatic events in their life. I was never upset when Born This Way got snubbed at the grammys because the album itself is still a great piece of work and I think it had enough success. At this point I think even the VMAs are more credible since you actually vote whereas the grammys vote for who is hot at the moment. I think it's so BIZARRE that Kanye West and Beyonce have more than 20 grammys but Mariah Carey has only 5, Celine Dion has only 5, Patti Labelle only has 2, kTHEE Diana Ross has 0 (YES ZERO!), Led Zeppelin has 0, and theres many other rock n roll artists or Motown artists that have little to no grammys. Don't get me wrong there are many artists/legends that have well deserved grammys like Aretha Franklin who has 27, Michael Jackson who has almost 20 I think, Whitney Houston, The Beatles, etc but these artists won their grammys at a time where the grammys had some type of credibility. Anyway I'll be happy if Gaga wins but if she doesn't then it's not something to lose sleep over. I noticed she posted on Instagram the other day about writing her next "grammy" hit and I just hope the grammys isn't something she's catering towards in terms of songwriting and awards. I'm sure Gaga knows what shes doing but I just don't want her to be impressionable to win grammys which I'm sure won't be.

I'm kinda in the same boat :laughga: Sure it's great to win awards but it's not the be all and end all, and it sounds cliche but what matters most is your opinion on the album. An award based on other people's opinions shouldn't be validating your like or dislike for an artist because we can make up our own minds and have our own personal responses to different music :flutter:

"Music, not the bling" applies to awards too, I guess. I'll be thrilled if she wins but if not then meh :laughga:

I sure as hell do. When someone untalented like Rihanna has more Grammys than Gaga (despite all her Grammys being collabs/hooks) I want her to win even more. And possibly break MJ/Beyonce/Kanye's record

I agree which is why the grammys aren't prestigious anymore since many artists have an abnormal amount of grammys and they aren't even that impressive of a vocalist or songwriter. Everyone has a different opinion but the fact come on....Kanye having 20 more grammies than Mariah and Celine Dion?

The Grammys are bogus, as is pretty much any major award. It looks great on a resume, but does it really make an album better if it wins? Or an album worse if it doesn't even get nominated?

Just like with the Oscars, the Grammys have made enough dubious choices for me to say "You know what... I don't care."

And the Grammys stopped being as fair in my opinion, if you have a wonderful rap song, it could be eligible for like 2 awards, but a pop song has many more

I appreciate a grammy much more than a VMA because, those who vote for the gammys actually know something about music, whereas those who vote for VMAs are usually teens who vote for the cutest guy at the moment

I agree.

Mariah for example was the centerpiece of 90's and 2000's Music, yet only has 5 Grammys. Gaga was/is the centerpiece of this decade, yet only has 6.

When the most prestigious Award of an industry holds no value and has no credibility anymore, something is very wrong. :wtf:

Gaga has been talking about the **** state of the music industry for a long time. I totally agree.

I doubt she will this year anyways. But yeah, Kanye West or whatever having like 20 Grammys is ridiculous. If you put out a rap or urban album you can be nominated in 10 categories in 1 night. Makes the awards meaningless.

Kevin Parker, Mac Demarco, Mark Ronson, and a stoned Lady Gaga. Need I say more?

I also agree, the people who choose the Grammy winners these days also factor in popularity, it's not just based on the integrity and artistry of the song or artist anymore.
