I gathered predictions from 5 different publications and websites that do early predictions every year and gave each mentioned Film in the Original Song category a score based on their positions in each list. It looks like this right now:

1. "Fast and Furious 7" 105 Points

2. "Hunting Ground" with 100 points

3. "Love & Mercy" with 95 points (apparently although this one was a favorite, it didn't make the 74 song cut recently announced by the academy)

4. "Spectre" and "Youth" with 35 points

5. Tie: "Fifty Shades of Gray", "Creed" and "Pitch Perfect 2" with 15 points

6. "Meru" and "Ricki and the Flash" with 10 points

I'll keep this thread up to date throughout the awards season and as more predictions come out.

Predictions taken from: Indiewire, Awards Circuit, Hollywood Reporter, Variety, (update)TheFilmExperience.Net

No disrespect to Paul Walker or anyone, but I see absolutely NO reason why See You Again should win.

In my messy era.

The only reason it has a chance is because it was in a popular movie series tbh

But there are plenty of popular franchises that never seen the light of day when it came to Oscars.

Someone tragically died, R.I.P to Paul Walker, but even though he done charitable things during his life, does he really merit an Academy Award? No offence, but not in my opinion.

My ideal option would be TIHTY, not because it is Gaga, but the message.

In my messy era.

*Update: It looks like Love and Mercy is out of the competition. This really is a race between TIHTY and Till I See You Again.

What is the criteria needed to win?  Is it based on success and such?

There's criteria for being nominated, for example every song must have been written directly for the movie. As for winning, the academy members decide. Sometimes the popularity of a song, like Let it Go from Frozen, can be really influential in their voting but it's not always so clear cut.

If she will win, I will die.

Not

If she won I'd die.

it would be

If she had won, I would've died.

even tho you can't say that, since the awards didn't even happen yet.

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.
