There will not be another "official" World War. There will always be conflict of interests and small wars but nothing like a World War.

WW1 was called "The war to end all wars" (French even called it "La Der des Ders" meaning someting like "the very last one") and we all know what happened in 1939.

No, we are not... It is impossible for two countries like Russia and Turkey to fight in a war. WHY?

1- Land, and piece of earth does not mean anything anymore unless it has gas or oil (which Turkey don't have). In times of WW1, and WW2, land was valuable for emotional and economical reasons (colonization); now they do not hold the same value which is the reason why a major war is between two countries is nothing more than a harmful situation for both countries... There is nothing to win unlike WW1, WW2.

2- Only 1 plane is show down, 1 pilot is killed. Not enough for a major war.

3- Turkey shot down Russian Jet within the boundaries of international laws. Russia does not have any legit reason to declare war.

4- Since downing of jet was in legal boundaries; NATO openly declared its support for Turkey's right to defend its airspace, and declared they are ready to deploy armies to defend any NATO countries' borders in any military conflict.

5- Russian Economy is expected to shrink by 4% due to economic sanctions put by European Countries after Crimea Crisis , in this condition; they simply can't get into a military conflict which will both directly and indirectly harm their economy. Indirect harm is coming from the fact that in such situation, every NATO or NATO cooperative country will stop their trades with Russia

6- Even if there was no NATO support, Turkey has 10th strongest army, and nuclear weapons too. In major wars, defenders have always significant advantages especially considering Russia has no land borders with Turkey... Taking risk of attacking Turkey comes with a huge risk of international humiliation which is not very likely for Russia to take since international humiliation is the first reason why Putin attacks Turkey personally after the downing of the jet. If you're Russia, and you want to be a global power dominating other countries, you shouldn't let other countries treat you like any other country which Turkey did in the first place by shooting down Russian jet which violated its airspaces.

EXTRA:

There will be a diplomatic, and economic war between Russia, and Turkey which already started.

That's what they said after the first one :laughga:

The world is in a completely different place now though. It has become practically impossible for their to be a world war anything like the previous two considering the ties we all have with each other now.

Oh no guys, it's not possible. If Putin wanted it, he could destroy Turkey right now, but he's smart enough not to do it. Russia has already suffered enough economicaly, this would bring so much more problems

Do you think Putin needs a reason to declare war? Do you not know Putin?

I know Putin and he does need a legit reason to declare war against Turkey.

Even if military power of Ukraine was equal to that of Turkey; Ukraine is not a NATO country, declaring war against Ukraine will only bring economic sanctions which already happened...

But if Turkey's downing of Russian jet was not in borders of international laws, Turkey could not invoke Article 5 of NATO. Article 5 says that any war against a NATO country is war against ALL NATO countries. NATO approved as Turkey's downing as legal, and declared that it is ready to deploy armies in any military conflict.

So simply Russia's declaring war against Turkey is not only declaring war against Turkey but declaring war against USA, UK, France, and all other NATO countries. It is a war that no country has chance to win... The reason why Russia is acting aggressive is that Russia's situation as dominating global power is harmed due to Turkey's downing of Russian Jet. They would never take an action in which they can't win. No country wants trouble with United States.

Hence my OP : Russia vs Turkey might start it.

Russia is only aggressive in speech because it failed to solidify its situation as global power like US... They are not mentally unstable...

A country has to be mentally unstable to mess with US... US military spending per year is 10 times that of Russia(which is the 3rd country with the highest defense budget)...

They won't get into a war where there is no way they can win anything, but harm their own prestige...

LOL DON'T BE SCARED HONEY:D

Putin's spokesperson already said that they neither considered any military action, nor meant any military actions by "serious consequences of downing of Russian Jet".

As I said, there will be an economic and diplomatic war between two countries.

Maybe we are. Maybe we aren't. The good thing is: we've been on the "edge of WWIII" many more times than we've actually experienced it. The odds are in our favor.

In the mean time: be a good community member and be active in supporting leaders and decision makers of good character who support diplomacy and peace in the world.

No...there's a war coming, but nothing of the magnitude of the two first world wars. Those were conflicts between the biggest military and economical powers in the world at that time...nowadays, the biggest military and economical forces are somewhat aligned, so nothing like a WWIII is on the near horizon...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

If you consider war against ISIS, or Assad as war...

There is no way there will be a military war between Turkey and Russia. If there was any chance of war between of these two countries, it would turn into a WWIII for sure but there is literally 0 chance.

There is a lack of perspective of just how big World War I and II were. We are nowhere near having a World War III. War like what we see now has been a common thing across all of human history - believe it or not we in what is considered to be one of the most peaceful times in all of recorded human history - most of the world doesn't have to worry about another country just showing up and taking over destroying their way of life as they knew it out of nowhere.

Let me put it this way - If you're able to comfortably browse the internet, go grab a cheeseburger and maybe go to an amusement park if you want than we are not even close to a World War.

:applause::applause::applause:

Well put.  Can we be friends?  :gaycat:

I'm talkin' 'bout forever, baby.
