Didymus 34,380
Remove that ridiculous French flag then. Edit: Wish I hadn't written this 'cause I've been gently but ruthlessly schooled on a future page. Great discussion though, I recommend it. If you're not gonna read the whole thing, read from page 5 onwards or please don't quote me or refer to me since you're gonna get it wrong.

Didymus 34,380
Tired of these celebrities pretending to be spokespersons for political events when they systematically ignore 99% of it. It's a trend for them. It's despicable.

Revealing the name of the shooters does nothing but give them fame, which has been the motivation for multiple mass shooters throughout history. How does it have that effect when she, just like nearly every other celebrity who tweeted about Paris on Twitter, ignored all the ISIS-related events including the terrible attack in Beirut (which even Obama intentionally ignored) around the same time? That flag is nothing but a symbol of selective outrage and a horrid way of supporting the military actions of a country that is literally painting a target on its chest. I have no problem with that, but I will roll my eyes when she dares to make a holier-than-thou statement about using power to promote/inspire peace and harmony when she engages in the common selective outrage that is actually exactly countering her own statement. Obviously I'm not expecting anyone to stop being hypocritical, since that's just human nature. But I can't stand when people make an ideal of themselves that they can't/won't solidify in their own actions.

It IS their job to talk about ISIS activities and hold public officials accountable for their bad decisions. Celebrities are not. They and the millions of people who have the French flag in solidarity were only responding to what the media and their social networks blow up on their feed. Not to mention Gaga lives in California, so it does in fact sting a little harder and louder when it's closer to home.

She did more than any other celebrity to honour Paris.
