Luiz 4,253
A rapist convicted of ripping out his girlfriend's teeth with pliers during a long campaign of domestic violence has been given a life sentence. Donald Jeffrey's victim sobbed as she recalled her years of misery at his hands. She told how her teeth rattled off the floor as Jeffrey coolly pulled them from her mouth, then made her pose in front of a mirror. In July a jury heard how he repeatedly raped the mother, tried to drown her in a freezing bath and threatened to throw her out a 17th-floor window. He also dropped heavy dumb-bells onto her body after demanding she lie on the ground. Jeffery had by this time already unleashed his violent temper on another woman, which left her so broken she thought about killing him to end her hell. The 44-year-old was convicted of a total of 13 charges following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow earlier this year. The crimes included attempted murder, five rapes and numerous assaults. At the High Court in Paisley, judge Lord Matthews imposed an order for lifelong restriction on Jeffrey, who denied the allegations, meaning he will be supervised for the rest of his life after being released from prison. He was ordered to serve ten years behind bars for his "appalling offences" before being eligible for parole and placed on the s-x offenders register indefinitely. http://news.stv.tv/west-central/1334387-rapist-who-ripped-out-girlfriends-teeth-with-pliers-jailed-for-life/ I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it. Uhhhh so you can realize how ****ed up the world is and not get viruses on your phone by reading this same story somewhere else. OT: Just 10 years behind bars? Ffs, you can get up to 30 years, the most I heard of, for downloading a movie, but for beating up someone ten years? Someone give me a Kit Kat before I go off! jojo Freud 653
Im so happy there isn't yet a "why didn't she just leave comment?" For those who think that you have to remember that things aren't that simple. Men/women (mostly men however) who commit mentally damaging domestic violence, that leave the fiction feeling of worthlessness, then make the victim feel as if they need the other partner, that they're "worthless" without them. This is achieved through these degrading physical acts. There is also the question of safety. Like what would happen if they did leave, there is always the threat that these terrors will escalate, particularly if children are involved.
MJHolland 12,725
Only 10 f*cking years for rape, torture, and attempted murder?!?! Say what you will about harsh justice systems, but I'm so glad I live in a country where torturers aren't allowed parol. I'm sorry, but he should have gotten the death penalty. Shame. The reason practices like parol exist is a sort of surety. Whilst there is the belief the legal and justice system is accurate, there is always the chance that the wrong person is convicted and it happens more often that what people think. Imagine a person being given the sanction of the death penalty and then found that they're not guilty after the fact. However to some extend I agree. The crime legal system in Australia is mostly controlled by the states so sentencing is just appalling and bail systems are messy, particularly in Victoria. I believe a life sentence here currently stands at 25 years, not a persons whole life.

Shadow 6,697
Disgusting, only ten years? Parole and then supervised for life, does that mean they'll stop him in the future? If there is a DNA match to this guy being the perpetrator, why not imprison him for life? A danger to society for sure... poor woman... Stand in the light, cast your shadow.
