That's true, I see that now. But I'm sure we both agree that there's a cosmos of difference between separating s-xes based on physiological phenomena and creating social concepts of how a man and woman should be, based on some fictitious illusions.

It's all so interesting. I wish I could look into the future and see how different (or the same, yawn) these things are all gonna be in like a thousand years :flutter:

I too would like the PDF :green:

Lol what, research don't say anything near "Brains have no gender".

I am taking a class called Psychology for Engineers; most research papers (about working memory, cognitive biases etc.) diversify s-xes. Because for many cases, results of large group of males and females have significant differences. Of course, a single female subject's results might be close to the central tendency data of males; but enables us to generalize is overall of groups, not data of one individual.
For example: J. Richard Simon - Simon Effect Research Paper ( Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1969, Vol. 81, No 1, 174-176)

In modern approaches, it's never been said if female brain, or male brain is strictly this or that anyways; but there are many cognitive differences between s-xes on overall; for these differences to be considerable, data needs to show specific patterns, and cannot be all over the place.

No academia denies most statements from this paper. I think research makes a political statement rather than a scientific one because they try to debunk legitimacy of using s-x as variable in research pertaining to psychology even though, they admit that there are some similar patterns of differences in certain researches... Depending on research, subjects' being left-handed/right-handed, religious beliefs, or socio-economical situation can even be a variable, so there is no logic in denying s-x as a variable...

I think the point here is that of course men and women have different experiences and will react differently to tests but that this is not based on their neurological structure. It's based on how their lives have shaped around the fact that they're male or female, left- or righthanded, religious or atheist,... This research isn't denying s-x as a variable, it's simply stating that the brain itself is genderless. So the point is that we shouldn't conclude that if there are differences among men and women, that there is a fundamental difference between how men and women are. We should instead work from the basic assumption that the brain itself does not generate constructs of gender and that therefore the real difference lies in environmental factors, so that it becomes completely irrational to say that the difference in results is due to differences of s-x.

It's a subtle difference but I do think it's important.

You're right but I think I failed to clarify myself. In some cases, differences between s-xes lie in social factors as you said; but in the example I give (Simon Effect), social factors don't have any role because it is simply based on response to a uniform stimulus.

Although, claiming that brain is s-xless therefore s-x should be disregarded in researches is misleading; because in some researches depending on its nature, differences between results of a group of male, and female is based on their neurological structure. For example, girls' volume of grey  matter in prefrontal cortex peaks at a younger age compared to that of boys which leads to a higher activity in prefrontal cortex in girls compared to boys at those ages; given that observed group of adolescents are from the same race and similar background, and all have healthy diet. So as a result of this, female brain is better at empathy, and rational decision making in adolescence compared to boys who tend to be more impulsive since grey matter volume, and activity in prefrontal cortex peaks later in their lives.

We can talk about differences of transgender male or cisgender male, but I just don't mention them because I don't have specific knowledge regarding the issue, therefore whatever I say would be just speculation. I also don't know what the scientific reasoning and approach is to the non-binary gender theory; and how can it be used effectively in these researches.

It's important to remember that although the dead human brain may look the same, live human males and females have different levels of bodily hormones, which can strongly affect behavior and personality traits.

I'm reading a FANTASTIC book on the history of same-s-x relationships throughout history, starting from animals all the way up to the evolution chain from primitive man to the modern Western world.

It's shocking :deadbanana: The conclusion basically is that bis-xuality (ambis-xuality is a better term) is actually nearly 100% universal among all species, including humans. Studies of primitive and ancient cultures are showing more and more frequency of ambis-xuality and a mindbending lack of exclusive hetero- and homos-xuality.

It ends by stating that Western forms of s-xuality are actually not just a deviation from natural functioning but also psychologically harmful. It's fantastic. Reading about Islamic desert clans whose men cared more about their underaged boy wh-res than their wives etc. was almost like reading p-rn fiction.

You give me hope for that chick I have a crush on :toofunny:

No seriously this si really interesting especially the fact that our "western" forms of s-xuality can be harmful to us!

I wonder what is so bad about gender that so many people bother constantly try to prove that it doesn't exist. And it does exist anyway, women and men are different, even though the majority of their organs look and behave in the same way. Gender is written in your genes, even without genitals you are either male or female. I understand fighting for equal treating genders, because this is important not to divide people into better and worse, but trying to prove that something doesn't exist instead? I will never get it.

Wtf there's actually transphobia in GGD!?

I actually though such creatures do not exist among little monsters, guess I'm wrong:neyde:

Oh, I see! Fascinating. I had no idea.

I don't believe that the conclusion of this research is that we have to disregard s-x in research in general though. That's not what this study is about, I don't really get how that idea got in this thread from the beginning. I mean, that's philosophy of science and I doubt something even close to that suggestion would appear in a neurological research document.

But this is a great clarification in any case.
