Yall know that Oricon is based completely on physical CD sales, Adele is actually slaying the Japanese iTunes chart even though she had never promoted there. She could've been more successful if Japan music industry didn't take a weird turn around 2009/10.

the thing is digital music sales only account for about 15 percent of total music revenue in Japan. Streaming and download are quite small (they are more into downloading ringtones) in comparison.  itunes does not have a high digital market share in japan as in the US either.
