Best Mariah albums?

I saw a debate about Emotions vs Music Box on ATRL and Emtiojs was getting lots of acclaim (and Music Box was being DRAGGED for filth). I decided to stream the album and I actually really love it. :nick:

It also reminded me that I listened to Music Box month ago and it was my first Mariah album and thought her music was really boring. But them Emotion slayed me today.

So what's the next best?

The Child

I haven't even listened to all of her albums but a friend I know told me his favorite from her was TEOM.

Her best Album by far is Butterfly. It has the best concepts, the best production, lyrics, voice.

Even though the belts on Daydream and Charmbracelet are quite good.

Butterfly is just holy. If you talk about the best Commercial sounding album, I would say Music Box or TEOM.

MIAM-TEC and Rainbow are great Albums too but don't stand out as much.

Her Debut Album and Emotions are flawless but IDK, they don't speak to me as much.

My thoughts are all over the place.

Top 5 best Albums:

5) Rainbow/Charmbracelet

4) Emotions / Daydream

3) Mariah Carey

2) The Emancipation of Mimi

1) Butterfly

Most Underrated: Charmbracelet / Mariah Carey

Most Vocally Challenging: Charmbracelet/Daydream

Most Commercial: The Emancipation of Mimi

Butterfly is a modern masterpiece. It's truly the apex of Mariahrtistry, as well as one of the best albums any pop star has ever put out.

That's just my humble opinion, tho. :gaycat:

I'll give Butterfly and Rainbow a chance :nick:

If you want to define her albums, I'd say

Her debut is her most diverse

From ballads like Vision of Love, Love Takes Time to upbeat like There's Got to be a Way, Someday

Emotions is heavy ballad leaning

after a sophomore slump, Sony made her water down herself, hence some fans dislike Music Box

MB is AC/pop

Daydream is pop/RnB with AC appeal

With Butterfly she made a massive transition

She left AC completely for Hip Hop

Rainbow was rushed to get her off her label from Tommy, so it seems a bit rushed

Glitter is disco/RnB

Charm is her most personal and is very slow and if you are not into that I won't advise you as it might bore you

TEOM is very upbeat despite the ballads

E=MC2 is her most poppy album

Think of it as The Fame meets an RnB makeover

MOAIA is my least fave as it seems very uninspired and dull compared to her other works

MIAMTEC is her most personal since Charm and is a bit of disco meets RnB meets trap

I love a lot of her older stuff but TEOM is for me, her best work as a whole, and I feel MOAIA is astounding as well, perhaps not vocally, but lyrically it's pretty great.
