Iwontell 7,312
I totally get where you're coming from, but I think she deserves to be successful and, compared to the others, she's one of the most capable pop girls around... Her success is a combination of so many complex and unpredictable things (success is always like that, isn't it? whoever says it's all "hard work" or "talent" is a fool). Some elements to it are meritorious - I mean, she's a very good singer and songwriter (even if I wish she was a little more daring thematically)...but there are also a lot of just really aleatory elements - like, the public perception surrounding her is something no one can intentionally generate, it's mostly luck to be so widely accepted (there's a bit of keeping your mouth shut and not taking stands too, but let's not go there)... Personally, I really like her and believe she deserves the praise. Sure, I get it, it's a bit "much" now, but give people time and they'll stop needing the social approval (or even the self-esteem boost, for people who make being a fan of hers part of their very identity) that comes from supporting her and things will go back to normal... I guess what I'm trying to say here is no one will ever know why she became so big, so let's just accept it and move along, bc sooner or later someone we like is going to be the biggest "thing" and a lot of people won't get it either, so... EDIT: I just realized I always end my sentences with reticences and question marks...maybe I was a Rabbi in past lives... ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

In all seriousness I don't think it was meant to come for Gaga as much as it was for the Britneys and Katys of the world who market based on their attractiveness and aesthetic direction repsectively(no shade i stan for both). Adele's familiar with Gaga enough to know the woman has a massive voice and an ability to write a catchy hook.

Hexxx 2,244
She doesn't fit in the category of Britney, Gaga, or Beyonce and the others. She fits more with Sam Smith, Lana Del Rey and other artists that just sing rather than put on a show with choreo Lady Gaga/ Madonna/Lana /Azealia Banks/ Jazmine Sullivan/ DEEE-LITE/ Moko

EDIT: I just realized I always end my sentences with reticences and question marks...maybe I was a Rabbi in past lives... I believe that one big reason that Adele is so popular again is because she represents a classic idea of singer and standard, with Adele, it is all The Voice and so many people try and emulate her with each album, to ask or challenge themselves, if they are a good singer or not. I have seen it in actual life, but also all over the internet, trying to meet Adele's range and having fun doing so. It is a joy for these people and they feel the songs and artist. I do not know if they even ask about who Adele herself is as a celebrity, it is all about the song and the voice. It is something to strive for with them. That is pretty special, these songs or Adele's voice is an inspiration and practice. That is Adele, this album and her last. The future's uncertain and the end is always near. UmbriaWitch 325
She makes relatable music and her image as the "anit-popstar" in an era where people are getting jaded with pop girls schtick, positioned her perfectly. 10 hours ago, Benji said: Well she's talented, relatable for the large majority of the population, likeable, she's funny and she doesn't take herself noway as serious as most popular artists. If anyone is going to be popular, I'm glad it's Adele. I'm actually kind of glad Adele is more popular than Gaga. Why Gaga and not the other pop girls?
