She built her career on an obsession with popularity and fame. It's pretty safe to say it's still important to her :rip:

If you were to say todayGa is like FameGa then I would disagree :rip:

this is why i don't like Katy, she's so put together and there's nothing real about her. The music is all for sales and charts. Real artists don't give a f if they don't go #1-#10

So Gaga's not a real artist?

uh its pretty obvious lmao everyone knows deep down she wants a smash her. she was even boasting at the BTWBall how everyone said BTW was a flop...

Lol for real, and there's nothing wrong with that. Not every artist who counts chart success as one of their goals is automatically Katy Perry-tier faceless.

She's different but you don't just magically shift personalities and get motivated by completely different things. DWUW's existence proves she still cares a very large amount about all that hollywood celebrity pissing contest stuff.

I think each of her albums had completely different goals tho. The goal of 'The Fame' was to mimic and attain  "Fame"

They were very different. However, at it's core the DWUW era showed how damaged the woman is by the constant comments from her detractors in the media. You can't care about detractors you don't listen to so she does care about the state of her career still. It's not a bad thing. She's a passionate, driven artist and should be celebrated for her incredible work she's done to become and stay famous :nick:

Do you really want me to throw out Gaga's desperate tweets during the Applause and ARTPOP era? Gaga's been about wanting to have chart success since The Fame era. She tossed out the "muzic nawt teh bling" once things were falling apart.

this video is just the biggest drag to debunk your claim and backup mine:

so is Gaga "a fake artist" for wanting chart success...?

Still think this video should have been played in movie theaters tbh

if someone is attacking you creations, whether or not you're profiting from it you're going to have this sense of protectiveness over it. It's your own, you've created this piece whether it be music, art, technology, a business. If someone tries to tear down your creativity you're gonna feel **** about it bc u put in the hard work

I feel you and agree with your sentiment, but, that has literally nothing to do with what I was saying. DWUW was about the media's response to her personally, not to her art. Gaga's always been content to just put her music out without worrying too much about what the industry thinks. Her obsession with fame and her creativity are two very seperate things. However, Gaga does still care a lot about fame and success and the media, her words and her actions consistently have shown such even to this day. Gaga's worked her whole life to be at the top. Not giving credit to the planning and effort that went into it seems kind of disingenuous; we've all heard Gaga's stories about trying to make it in the pop music world. She cares a great deal and works very hard because of it. Why is it that you want to ignore that or even pretend it's never happened?

Geez, Katy :duck: she doesn't need to worry. She's the most GP friendly artist out there...maybe 2nd to Taylor because of all the romance/break up songs Tay has. Same can be said about Adele :rip:

Well Katy's one of the most GP friendly. Her singles will always be fun to dance to and they'll always chart so she doesn't need to worry at all.

To the peeps discussing Gaga, I don't think she'd cry over her single being #128 in one country and #5 or higher in others. It's true that she likes to chart and she likes having hits (who wouldn't?) but I highly doubt that's her goal when making music. If it was, she'd be asking "Ok, what will radio stations play?" instead of "Ok, let me translate my life experience and feelings into words, put them with music that my friends and I made, then put it on an album to share with the world." :D

Yes she does care. Any true Little Monster that isn't deluded knows that she wants another smash hit.

Give it up Lance, you can't argue with them

I agree with you that Gaga cares very much about chart success but reading your post I can see you didn't understand at all what DWUW was about. "You can't have my heart and you won't use my mind but do what you want with my body". She's basically saying "you can criticize me for my image and my personality, but don't talk **** about my art".
