"So far, we've recorded about 32 dead and about 80 injured," said Sa'ad Bello, the Yola coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency. http://news.yahoo.com/bomb-blast-yola-ne-nigeria-red-cross-resident-211136954.html Young female suicide bombers kill 15 in Nigeria market attack http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/nov/18/young-female-suicide-bombers-kill-15-in-nigeria-market-attack I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it. lego 44,165
The grisly attacks in France and Lebanon last week have fixed attention on the violence perpetrated by ISIS. But a study published this week indicates that the world’s deadliest terrorist organization actually operates thousands of miles south of Paris and Beirut, in Nigeria. The 2015 Global Terrorism Index, published by the Institute for Economics & Peace, found that Boko Haram, the Nigerian jihadist group, was responsible for 6,644 deaths in 2014, compared with 6,073 at the hands of ISIS. Boko Haram, which was founded in 2002 as an Islamist movement against Western education andmorphed into an armed insurgency in 2009, has rapidly expanded its scope and ambitions over the past two years, achieving international notoriety in the spring of 2014 by kidnapping more than 200 schoolgirls. Much like ISIS, the organization controls territory in Nigeria (although it has lost some of it over the past year) and has declared a caliphate in that territory. The group is also international; although based in northeastern Nigeria, it has launched attacks in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. In the latest incident, Boko Haram is the suspected author of an attack in the Nigerian city of Yola that has leftmore than 30 people dead. http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2015/11/isis-boko-haram-terrorism/416673/ FreePalestine
lego 44,165
Ex-security adviser accused of stealing billions Wednesday's explosions came as President Muhammadu Buhari pressed his campaign against Nigeria's endemic corruption, blamed for hampering the fight against the insurgents. Buhari accused his predecessor's national security adviser of stealing billions of dollars meant to buy weapons to fight Boko Haram, when soldiers had just a few bullets and the Islamic extremists were rampaging across northeast Nigeria. Nigeria's former national security adviser Sambo Dasuki has denied the accusations against him, saying he is not a thief. (Associated Press) Critics long have blamed corruption for the military's failures, asking how the insurgents can be better armed than Nigerian soldiers despite an annual defence budget of more than $5 billion, supplemented last year by a loan of $1 billion. Buhari ordered the arrests of several former high-ranking officials allegedly linked to fraudulent and fictitious arms contracts totalling $5.4 billion, one of his advisers, Femi Adesina, said in a statement. http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/world/nigeria-suicide-bombings-1.3325338 ****ing corruption. Riot Poof 2,236
It's so unfortunate to have these terrorist attacks happen, especially all at around the same time! May the victims rest in peace. May the families who've lost loved ones be able to find peace. I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand.
