How can something become hate speech is what I'm asking. German society will change. Something not considered offensive now might be hate speech in 100 years. Who reviews language and decides it should be added to hate speech legislation?

I already know the difference, this doesn't answer my question. Qualle1 already answered.

Although it's very broad.

Honey, if you would heavily insult me, I would take you to the court, where a judge will decide to condemn you.

Moreover we have also the prosecution here in Germany, who would also sue you, if there is also a "public interest" because of the "severity" of your insult - f. e. Holocaust denial.

I hope you understand me. English is not my mother tongue...

You remind me of that antisemitic guy that was insulting me and my friend for not believing in a Jewish lobby...every community help each other it's human especially when pretty much everyone rejects you anyways.

I'm so conflicted on this and I'd rather not give my stance for once

all I wanna know is how can she say it never existed? There's literal evidence and she must be old enough to have belt some of the effects of its existence. Crazy old woman. :wtf:

If I were president of the world I would make denying Gaga being better and more talented than any popstar including Madonna and Beyoncé punishable with life sentence

Sorry. Coming from the United States, and thus a far more evolved democratic society, I believe we should tolerate everyone regardless of what they have to say or think and regardless of if it makes some people uncomfortable.

USA a far more evolved democratic society?

Maybe in comparsion with North Korea or Saudi Arabia - but seriously not in comparsion with most European countries, especially not with Germany...

Your arrogance and artificialness as well as your "know it all" manner make you unbearable.

The US wrote Germany's constitution/Basic Law bud. Study up before quoting me.

Edit: Also we have freedom of speech and religion unlike most of Europe. Germany wasn't even democratic until the fall of the Berlin wall. lol.

Oman, but my country never considered or stated itself as 'liberal' or pushed the word 'freedom' on your face but then doesn't follow their own guidelines.

1984 is in no way the US that's just ignorant it's basically North Korea.

As for her being sent to jail is rightful imo. Freedom of speech is overrated especially when you see these cases where people believe in the most hateful things and deny they had anything to do with it. Y'all are literally defending a nazi simply bc it's her "belief". I won't tolerate any hateful **** from anyone. There's crazy white/racist/homophobic republicans out there who believe Obama is a shape shifting reptilian muslim that pretended to be a Christian to get into the white house- does it mean they should go to jail? No. Does it mean they're wrong? Absolutely. But SOMETHING needs to be done when they're influencing politics and their beliefs can (unlikely) take us to a 1984 type situation. This woman denying the deaths of millions can only be explained by her believing she is of a master race- just like these white republicans. They're in the wrong but "freedom is speech" is always used to justify their hateful ways.

It's funny bc fighting over the internet always has someone bring up Hitler as a response.

When this elderly woman leaves prison she will undoubtedly remain steadfast in her belief that the Holocaust never happened. Since you support the imprisonment of individuals who hold radically unpopular opinions what do you suggest we do after she is released? She received ten months in prison, would you rather she have receive more time? What about a life sentence, or capital punishment?

:udidnt:

You seem to have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.

And your dumb drivel about Europe is getting absolutely ridiculous...

I am also extremely glad that YOU don't live here...

Likewise, apparently your values are incompatible with our free society, so you can keep them.
