Morphine Prince 106,274
(Rolling Stone) - U2 were rehearsing at the AccorHotelsArena in Paris Friday night, less than three miles away from the Bataclan concert hall where the Eagles of Death Metal were playing, when they got word of the terrorist attack on the city. "If you think about it, the majority of victims last night are music fans. This is the first direct hit on music that we've had in this so-called War on Terror or whatever it's called," he said. Red 98,105
For someone that calls himself a humanitarian, you would not expect this type of bulls--t If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.
LebaneseDude 6,146
Playing devil's advocate here, but what I assume he was implying was that people won't feel as safe attending concerts in the future. Considering that this article was about U2 and their music, the tangential side note is not out of place. No need for the speech police. This is hardly different than an economist commenting in a magazine that tourists won't feel safe in Paris in the near future. Edited just now by LebaneseDude. Both true but he still just sounds so lame here. Like he is really trying hard to include himself in the story. I am almost positive that he will do some sort of tribute song or concert or whole album about it, his ego is enormous. The future's uncertain and the end is always near. I'm sure ISIS didn't sit down and say, "Let's attack the western music industry" Actually they did say that they targeted the Bataclan because hundreds of idolaters were gathered in a party of perversity: "Eight brothers carrying explosive belts and guns targeted areas in the heart of the French capital that were specifically chosen in advance: the Stade de France during a match against Germany which that imbecile Francois Hollande was attending; the Bataclan where hundreds of idolaters were together in a party of perversity as well as other targets in the 10th, 11th and 18th arrondissement," the group said, Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/isis-claim-responsibility-for-terror-attacks-in-paris-20151114#ixzz3riPfKWjs They have a history of hatred for western music, burning musical instruments and cutting the hands of musicians: "Islamic leaders consider music to be on par with “lust” and compromises the “religious responsibilities” of those who partake in the pastime." http://www.ibtimes.com/isis-burns-musical-instruments-islamic-state-fighters-libya-call-drums-un-islamic-1822320
