And seriously, people? Saying that French citizens should leave for safety but then acting as if those surrounding the ISIS camps can't? They are completely capable of leaving right now if they're not already casualties. You want to live with ISIS in your backyard when they SAY Raqqa is the capital of ISIS? They are not innocents.

I am glad however that there was action. 

I don't understand how some people thought that France would just accept the deaths of over 160 people and call it a day without any kind of retaliation. Like no, this is an attack on a country, the whole "turn the other cheek" rule does not apply.

I mean my God, I get the whole "I cried, my heart is breaking, this world is so cruel" thing ya'll love so much, but this is  really happening now, and we need a solution now before another country gets attacked.

This, if France doesn't retaliate, ISIS wins because they'd feel untouchable. They do bomb, they would be looked at as bullies using brute force not to mention it'll anger ISIS more. 

Either way it's a sticky situation because there's no clean-cut right answer. Let's face it, ISIS is already everywhere and they're probably just waiting for a signal and france needed to let them know that their **** won't be tolerated.

Whoever says France didn't start the war needs to grab a history book.... France invaded Syria for the oil, sold it to big companies and then left when Syria rebelled...

But that's how it works, greedy people wantend to take advantage of Syria, then some people radicalized their hatred and in the hopes of attacking a country that's held responsible for these acts, they are killing innocent people... You can leave your immature comments somewhere else, but if you actually knew how this works, you'd understand that hates breeds hate... and who is paying now, the innocent people in France and the innocent people in Syria... A bit more respect for the innocent people in Syria wouldn't hurt any of you

People under IS rule are not allowed to leave. When they try, they get executed.

Yes there are innocent among them, they were living there when IS captured those areas. You should read about stories of some who did manage to escape.

Why should they be forced to live lives like that then? It's worth it to destroy ISIS camps if it means some of the innocents can escape, but they would be trapped or dead with no action anyway.

I think it's because a death sentence is something imposed on a person who is already in custody who can do no more damage, and the death penalty is WAY more expensive than keeping someone locked up for life, and the death penalty also does not prevent people from committing heinous crimes. All-in-all, the death penalty does nothing to decrease crimes or keep people safe, nor does it do more to keep criminals off the streets. 

Bombing ISIS is different in that the members of the organization are not already in custody, so they're still able to inflict harm on innocent people. 

You could compare bombing ISIS to the death penalty if ISIS was confined to a single area and were unable to hurt others, but that's not the situation. And as things currently stand, you can't send French police officers into ISIS territory and place them under arrest, so other than trying to wipe them out I guess I don't know what other option could be taken. They're not a group you can organize a meeting with. They're not a group who will sign a peace treaty. 

I'm against war as much as the next tree-hugging liberal, but in this scenario even I am finding myself begrudgingly supporting France's decision here.

we are on high alert always... not just because of ISIS but because of kangaroos. Our wildlife would destroy ISIS!!! 

But on a serious note- Australia was one of the first locations to be attacked by ISIS- the hostages in that cafe from Melbourne/ Sydney wherever it was. (I am from Adelaide so forgive my ignorance) that was done by ISIS... We were lucky, Paris has not been and nor have the other countries. It has to stop- I don't believe in Terrorism- I know it exists don't get me wrong, I just don't like to fear monger etc- I believe that it is Religion that has caused all of this.
