the last time western forces fought against the al-quaida after the attacks on 09/11, they kinda contributed to the formation of the IS. but sure, let's do it again. maybe it will work out this time.

It was the Iraq invasion that produced ISIS, which is totally different. Most people didn't support it, in fact. But a lot of people didn't support pulling our troops out so soon either. Pulling out so soon is arguably what allowed ISIS grow so rapidly. Pretending it doesn't exist now, seems to be working, right? Oh wait...

If the refugees are running from terrorist, then we should deal with the terrorist. Not create open borders to make it easier for the terrorist. "Hey guys, we know you're running from terrorist. So were gonna open our borders so even if you try to run, you can't, because they'll come with you."

If France asks for the NATO Casus foederis, it's gonna be exactly the same situation. What do you suppose to do? Close all the borders and tell the refugees to stay in their countries while throwing bombs at them? Like somebody here said you have to "sacrifice" some people's life to end the war? Reacting with violence will always cause more extremism and hate, the intentions don't matter.

I am very sorry, but @Simon is right!

Without the bomb war by the Allied forces, that destroyed in particular the strategic heavy industry, the strategic infrastructure and the strategic administration as well as many cities in Nazi-Germany, WW2 might not have ended on 8th of May 1945 - because of the unconditionally surrender of Nazi-Germany.

Moreover: You should not forget, that Nazi-Germany started the systematic bomb war - also by destroying entire cities.

germany was basically defeated when dresden was attacked in february 1945. churchill and roosevelt wanted a systematic massacre of the civil population in that city. even though germany has started the war it is absolutely disguisting to euphemize any of the actions on both sides.

And:

Of course you can NOT compare the air warfare of the Allied forces against Nazi-Germany during WW2 with the current situation.

That's what Simon was doing while "giving us a history lesson"

But I'm only a man and I do what I can.

This whole thread is unnecessary, there's not much to be said about these actions, since we lack the power to change any of them.... I was just disappointed in people coming to this thread just to incite war without acknoledging or portraying its dichotomy in a fair way...

Anyway, I really have nothing personal against any of you... @Simon @Qualle1 I appreciate you taking the time to respond and I hope you didn't feel offended by anything I said...

"Basically defeated"?

But still the "total war" was going on for several months, before Nazi-Germany finally declared its unconditionally surrender...

And please do yourself a favour and don't do so, as if I would "euphemize" anything.

Finally I strongly recommend to you, to inform yourself properly about the main reasons, why the Allied forces actually did bomb Dresden in February 1945.

You don't have to teach me anything.

Tell me about how killing 250 000 innocents ended the war in one night.

i think this gif is inappropiate, because the situation is serious and horrible while this gif is from a comedy horror show and more about a funny situation ( which isn't the real world case)

It was my face/reaction when i saw that France sent 20 bombs. I was shocked/scared/surprised.

That's why i used it.

Not to make fun of the situation at all. I can understand though. Unfortunately, can't edit it anymore!

God, you have indeed absolutely no clue what you are talking about!

There have not been 250.000 people been killed in one night.

The bombings of Dresden happened between the 13th and the 15th of February 1945 - over three days/nights.

As far as I know, experts are estimating between a minimum of 22.500 and a maximum of 30.000 people have been killed during these bombings.

It is well known, that the propaganda of Nazi-Germany was claiming directly after the bombings, that in Dresden died at least 200.000 people.

We should all know today, that this was a lie!

So, do yourself a favour and stop posting FALSE INFORMATION!

You act like there is a confirmed number of victims of these nights when there isn't. Of course the number of identified bodies is much lower, fact is however, that the debate is still going on. Do you think all the refugees that came from former eastern Germany etc. that stayed in Dresden were registered in a proper way?

So do yourself a favour and try to get to the statement I was trying to make.

You're kindly invited to message me if you want to discuss that in any further way. This is already far too off topic. Bye.

This is just rude. If you want to speak German, you can go to the specific section of the forums or PM Simon himself.

And as we've explained countless times already, some innocent lives will be lost if we want to destroy ISIS, it doesn't mean we don't care about those lives, we just understand and accept the fact that it is necessary. Instead of SJWing i would really like to hear your solution on dealing with this issue without losing innocent lives.

Your "statement":

Are you kidding me? The bombing of Dresden is still one of the worst crimes committed by the allies. There was literally no military force in this city. The aim was to kill as many civilists as possible.

As already stated before, you are wrong.

And Dresden was indeed an important and strategic target for the Allied forces.

That so many "innocent" people had to die during these bombings is tragic, but it was WAR!

Nowadays we have luckily the ability to use intelligent weapon systems, so the collateral damage will hopefully be low.
