Exactly !! You just contractited yourself. "they're not going to stop" that's the main argument of this debate, if we don't take drastic measures, ISIS won't stop its attacks in Middle East and in the West. And that's exactly why violence is needed, ISIS must be weakened until it's not a big threat anymore. What are pacifist proposing to solve it? Nothing. And why? Because it's simply not realistic. That's one of the most Clausewitz's quotation : "Philanthropists may imagine there is a skilful method of disarming and overcoming an enemy without great bloodshed. However plausible this may appear, it is an error. In War, errors from benevolence are the worst. It is to no purpose, even against one's own interest, to turn away from the real nature of the affair because its horror excites repugnance. To introduce into the philosophy of War a principle of moderation would be an absurdity." And that's exactly what is happening. ISIS is in war, and not treat them as an ennemy would be a huge mistake. This principe of moderation that you're trying to defend is what could lead to even more deaths than a short war. ISIS is a threat and must be consider that way. Now let's refer to your history classes and one of the biggest mistakes in History. Who started in 1935 to annex territories just like ISIS is doing currently? Third Reich. What happened back in these day? International community said "oh, bad bad Germans, what you're doing is wrong !" but no interventions. You know what happened few years later. Isn't History made to learn from our mistakes? I think it is. And that's why when you see that the history is happening again, you have to make clever choice. And this time, instead of your pacific point of view "bad bad ISIS, what you're doing is wrong !" people decided to act, for the save of our Nations. I'm maybe wrong, and maybe that if we says "bad bad ISIS" nothing similar to WW2 will happen. But that's a risk we cannot take, and our leaders understood it. The only thing they have is "Violence is bad, m'kay." They won't take the time to propose a peaceful solution, which there isn't. Just let them live in denial. They just need to convince me they're right and that I'm wrong. It's that easy. But currently they don't even propose something to substitute violence. Is it because there is none? Maybe. With the bombing and attacking of Germany and I'm really glad that allies did that. I hope France and others are also to bomb away ISIS. But I'm only a man and I do what I can. But according to you, we should stay put and watch IS kill innocents, recruit young boys and girls, plunder more weapons and gain new territories? Because if we took action it's violence? This is a war situation, if you don't believe it yet, IS has declared war to anyone who goes against them, you can't blame a country for taking action in a situation of war. It's not like IS are open to discussion, or they started peace. I didn't ask for a free ride, I only asked you to show me a real good time.
