I agree, it's horrible that there are civilians in the way, and we should try to keep their casualties down. However, this needs to be dealt with quickly. If there was time, if we had years to do cross-cultural education and reach out to the at-risk populations and deradicalize them, then great, I would 100% support that. But we don't. Whether it's French innocents dying or innocent people in the way of the bombs we drop on ISIS, someone is going to die, and wouldn't you rather a few ISIS leaders die with them? I have the utmost respect for pacifists, but when your solution is unrealistic, what are you going to do, do nothing and go about your life until a bomb takes you out? There is no quickly anymore, we've known about ISIS for a year and a half now. We are performing air strikes for months and yet it has resulted into nothing. Not saying we didn't take out anyone from the IS but back at home there are plenty of new recruits that are willing to carry out the dirty work in out on our own territories. Why has France decide to get rid of the hate preaching mosques just now? They know about them for years but now it's bad enough? Why has Belgium allowd for Molenbeek to become a breeding ground where all of them coagulate and set up their operations. They were very swift in picking them up after Paris happened? Our western European countries know about all this yet decide to wait till **** hits the fan and only manage to be respond reactionary. This has been going on for way too long now and spread like an oil stain, a few more bombs from France will do nothing good.

I've only been replying to people who have made very insensitive remarks when talking about innocent lives... Moreso just referring to the core group of hard pacifists here who get mad at people who suggest practical, if tragic, solutions. That's the thing; we can't just wait around while we die. We have to take the best course of action we can come up with in the time we have, because unfortunately, ISIS made it an "us against them" situation. I agree that people shouldn't be insensitive about human lives. No matter what nationality, religion, or hate group the person belongs to, they're still human. But sadly, we don't live in a world where we have the time to take the peaceful route every time. I pray for the people who die every night, no matter who they are, but the fact is that someone is going to die here, because ISIS will not stop, and I'd rather it be them than me. It might sound cold, but that's just the nature of this conflict. Someone will die, and I'd rather it not be those from my country. I'm talkin' 'bout forever, baby. Oh, I concur that the response has been nowhere near as swift or comprehensive as it should have been, and I think that honestly, countries(especially the US) are only refraining from sending in ground troops because their political leaders are afraid of a backlash like the one the US public had against our Iraq/Afghanistan wars. The bombing is quite reactionary, but if anything, I'm just glad that this seems to be an indication of France's willingness to take increased action now(especially because France has a reputation in the US for being "soft" since WW2 ). I'm not necessarily saying this one bombing incident is so wonderful; I just happened to see this thread, read through the mess, and post a reply. I'm talkin' 'bout forever, baby. APPLAUSE4YOU 454
For those of you saying that this is starting war, it's far from doing so. It's finally fighting back. How much do we as a world United need to keep allowing these terrorists to exist. We hear of the cruelty and murders they commit everyday but ignore it in fear of starting a war and harming innocents. But do we do nothing and allow for ISIS to continue to kill innocents without punishment. France is doing the right there here.

Try to read and understand what I mean before trying to make me horrible. So you think that the west could attack for years and make horrible things in the Middle-east thinking that they could be safe somehow ? In french we say "Ce n'est qu'une question de temps". We knew ISIS were planning something but when and where ? That's my point behind the "it was about time" thing, now we know where and when.

"Let France and those who walk in its path know that they will remain on the top of the list of targets of the Islamic State, and that the smell of death will never leave their noses as long as they lead the convoy of the Crusader campaign, and dare to curse our Prophet, Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, and are proud of fighting Islam in France and striking the Muslims in the land of the Caliphate with their planes, which did not help them at all in the streets of Paris and its rotten alleys. This attack is the first of the storm and a warning to those who wish to learn." FreePalestine
