I guess users that choose not to pay can use what they made available for free. I guess they need better funding to keep snapchat going and this is how they are going to make it happen, if there's member willing to pay for premium content then why not? It is better than having the app bombarded by ads every 3 seconds, that many other free apps exactly did, imho. It is not the first time, many other camera apps have their own shops too for premium stickers and filters, which doesn't cost more than $2 tops. So this shouldn't be a problem. Many apps and websites are defunct/closing because they got lack of funding. Example, plug dj, it is closing because very little members willing to pay $1 for premium membership and the website owner rrfuse to put ads in the website so it became their demise.
