ViviLittleM 3
These all-time rankings are based on actual performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100 (from its launch on Aug. 4, 1958 through Oct. 10, 2015) and Billboard 200 (from Aug. 17, 1963 — when we combined our two leading pop album album charts for stereo and mono releases into one all-encompassing weekly chart — through Oct. 10, 2015). Titles are ranked based on an inverse point system, with weeks at No. 1 earning the greatest value and weeks at lower rungs earning the least. Due to changes in chart methodology over the years, eras are weighted differently to account for chart turnover rates over various periods. Artists are ranked based on the combined point totals, as outlined above, of all their Hot 100 or Billboard 200 chart entries. It's not praise but sales I think? DiscoHeaven23 35,007
Billboard has released their ALL TIME charts today. These charts are based on their inverse point system since 1958. According to their Billboard 200 Greatest Albums of all time chart, The Fame is the twelfth biggest album of all time (Based on their point system, not sales. Album sales have changed over time and Billboard's point system corrects that). This is spectacular news for Lady Gaga! EDIT: Here's the best way I can explain the system to you. So lets take The Fame and ...Baby One More Time. On this list The Fame is #12 and ...Baby One More Time is #41, but BOMT has sold 5 million more copies than TF. Sales are a factor here, but not the sole one. Say BOMT is selling 100K copies each week in 1999 and TF is selling 50K each week week in 2009 (TF is selling less than BOMT), well because album sales have decreased in 10 years The Fame keeps making the top 10 of the Billboard 200, while BOMT is only making the top 30, therefore, TF is receiving more points for being at a higher position and for a longer time. The albums that are before her are... 1) 21 - Adele 2) The Sound of Music Soundtrack 3) Thriller - Michael Jackson 4) Fearless - Taylor Swift 5) Born in the U.S.A. - Bruce Springsteen 6) Ropin' the Wind - Garth Brooks 7) Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morrissette 8) Doctor Zhivago - Sountrack 9) All the Right Reasons - Nickelback 10) Tapestry - Carol King 11) Whitney Houston - Whitney Houston 12) The Fame - Lady Gaga Other notable albums (that are relevant to Gaga Daily users) 18) Taylor Swift - Taylor Swift 21) Falling Into You - Celine Dion 23) The Bodyguard - Whitney Houston 32) Fallen - Evanescence 41) ...Baby One More Time - Britney Spears 49) Spice - Spice Girls 50) Mariah Carey - Mariah Carey 52) The Emancipation of Mimi - Mariah Carey 58) Let Go - Avril Lavigne 64) 1989 - Taylor Swift 67) Tragic Kingdom - No Doubt 72) Control - Janet Jackson 77) Breakaway - Kelly Clarkson 87) Music Box - Mariah Carey 94) Rhythm Nation - Janet Jackson 100) The Dutchess - Fergie 119) janet. - Janet Jackson 140) Red - Taylor Swift 141) Back to Black - Amy Winehouse 157) M!ssundaztood - P!nk 159) Whitney - Whitney Houston 164) Let's Talk About Love - Celine Dion 179) True Blue - Madonna 189) Pure Heroine - Lorde 199) Christina Aguilera - Christina Aguilera (I didn't skip Katy Perry, she doesn't have any) To see the full list and other Greatest of All Time charts, go here: http://www.billboard.com/charts/greatest-billboard-200-albums
