That could explain a lot of things. He clearly hasn't had it easy in the media spotlight. I hope he finds his way back.

Maybe but the business is tough. He'll be contractually obliged to do certain things and there will no doubt be people around him and at his label that want to milk him, like all big stars. He's still young and probably doesn't get an awful lot of say in the business decisions, none of us really know the situation. This just seems like a sort of call for help and I hope people around him are aware of it and support him.

To their idols? Lol the people dragging Justin on a daily don't consider him their idol. People respond to depression in different ways and just because Gaga dealt with hers internally and punished herself and Justin tends to lash out at the world, it doesn't make either less valid. She's another major star who has also openly discussed their depression, so I will bring her into the discussion.

I don't think people realise that he was just a kid when he became famous. He was fifteen/sixteen and he literally became a laughing stock, left right and centre. Most people wouldn't be able to deal with that at an adult age, and he hadn't even hit his twenties yet. He didn't get to experience life as an adult without ridicule and hassle on a global scale and that's something none of us can understand or relate to, so I think we should cut him a little slack.

He have given a second chance now, so I think people had cut him some slack but it is up to him how to handle this now. Personally, how he lashes out not only hurting other people but also his own career. As the user before me has said, depression is terrible but it is not an excuse to be a jerk. It is not the people around but also himself. He is not in the right state of mind to be around pressure that is oretty much celebrity lifestyle is about which is why the idea of exile come to mind. He should know better for himself.

That's true, I doubt he has much say in it so hopefully his team can see that its not doing him any good.

Whispering

I sympathize with him and hope he gets the help he needs.

Justin is an adult and has been in this business for a long time. He now needs to do the things to help himself, because no one else is going to do it for you. A record contract will allow for several years between albums (just look at Adele and JT). Especially with a diagnosis of depression, he could have put off making an album and touring for a couple of more years. He should also do a much shorter tour...or even no tour at all for this album.

If you don't take charge of your life and your health, the industry will chew you up and spit you out. It's up to the artist to set limits. If an artist needs several years off, they need to take it!

Daenerys

Here's to hoping that he can be brave enough to fight through it. I'd hate to see more talent join the 27 club.....

I keep hearing people saying it's hurting his career but then I look at the iTunes chart and see three of his songs in the top ten... It feels like he's bigger than ever.

It can be hard to see sense when you're depressed. 'He should know better' but why? How? Like I said, he broke out at an age where he's beginning to transition into an adult, which is tough for anyone that age. But he had a lot of extra things to deal with, a very unique situation. He hasn't really lived as a normal person so he probably doesn't know how to act like one. It's easy to dictate his behaviour from the outside looking in but the human mind is complicated and I don't think people with mental health issues should be judged. Maybe that's just me.

Maybe a break from the spotlight would do him good, but 'exile'? No. He's already said he feels alone.

He continued, "People thought it was funny to poke her when she was at rock bottom, to keep pushing her down until she had no more of herself. And that's what they were trying to do to me."

Had he said this in 2010, I would feel bad for him because at that stage, the hate was all just based on his femininity and that hate was unwarranted.

But now the hate isn't the cause of his problems. It's the effect of his childish, irresponsible and unacceptable behavior.

It's sad that he is dealing with depression but to lash out the way he has is excusable. He should learn more effective coping techniques as many depressed people or people with different forms of mental illness have.

Take a break, sort things out and come back with a positive attitude. If that isn't possible at the moment, understandable. But why lie by saying you've changed if you haven't? Manipulative.

And he cannot use his age as an excuse. A user here once posted a very personal response to that exact thing. When people were defending his DUI. The user was the same age and said he nor his friends would ever do the same as he did and they're his age - especially after the death of a friend.

That may be true, but in that case maybe Gaga shouldn't have been making music over the years too. The media (and public) should change the attitudes in which they scrutinise celebrities. Artists shouldn't have to stop doing what they love just because people are assholes. The people should stop being assholes. That's how I see it, anyway.

You're right. As long as people have this hunger for negativity that's exactly what they'll get. The beast (media) learns fast. It's why the news reports crimes, scandals, and lies as opposed to any happy things. We live in such a cynical time.

Celebs are people too and I can't imagine how easily a person could be broken when they feel that the whole world is gunning for them and waiting for them to fall.

You're stinky

Exactly, this is what I came here to say. I mean, I get him because he became super famous at a very young age and that must be hard over the years but it's certainly no reason to be rude or to not care about other people's feelings.

I wish him all the best and if he really does suffer from depression,I hope he gets better.

Idk whether to believe him or not because he's a liar...

If he does have depression that's unfortunate and he should seek professional help for his recent outbursts in public

If he doesn't, this is the WORST and most DISGUSTING excuse for his bad behavior and he and his team are terrible people!!! It would only show he's an entitled and selfish brat that when he didn't get his way throws a tantrum and demands things...wow
