EDM is always something sure because young GP is always here for a smash dancy sound track. So I donlt understand that statement that EDM is part of why ARTPOP failed. Any EDM instrumental from ARTPOP with other big DJ's name would have smashed in clud and radio imo. Donatella would have smashed for exemple because it's very dancy, it's what young ppl love no matter what you say about the song's quality. So I don't think ARTPOP kinda failed because of EDM. And there's always some disco that smash even today. Wait and see. This so much. I've told them a million times that ARTPOP's underperformance and lack of singles resulted from the lack of promotion. The genre was not the reason it underperformed. In fact the GP is here for any genre as long as the music sounds good, if Gaga intends to succeed, what she needs to do is make quality music and promote the singles sufficiently. The latter is what G.U.Y. lacked. Not to mention Do What U Want didn't even have a music video. Do you really think G.U.Y., despite being an EDM song, if performed at the Grammys, Brits, Ellen Show, The Tonight Show, etc. would have still peaked at #76? I've seen a lot of praises from the GP for G.U.Y., not to mention Zedd, producer of G.U.Y. was pretty huge in 2014. As long as she makes great music, does adequate promotion for her singles, she will do decent numbers. She'll still garner several top 10s if not #1s. I'm confident that with this album she'll be collaborating with the right people and going in a more creative, less formulaic direction. I think that was the biggest mistake with ARTPOP. The edm songs were basic and they didn't bring any new/fresh vibe that's why they sounded dated.

Of course with more promo it would have charted higher but it wouldn't have smashed for sure. Wake me up is the perfect example of a great EDM song. It's a mix of folk, country and edm. Something interesting that sounded fresh and different that's why it smashed so hard unlike Gaga's basic EDM songs.

Not in my and Gaga and Zedd's opinion. and the words "for sure" shouldn't be there, no one can make absolute assumptions. there's a reason why Gaga picked G.U.Y. as the third single. Dwuw was a basic r&b song too. Lassex 1,169
I trust in GodOne and Gaga, I think they'll create a special sound The possible disco influence won't be a problem, IWYL sounded fresh too!

It's Bad Romance level we're talking about. In fact it's the best song on ARTPOP.

Radio was supporting it, people loved it, it would have smashed DWUW did start a basic R&B trend however. Style by Taylor, Jason Derulo's Cheyenne, Selena's Me and the Rhythm and so many other songs sound similar to the instrumental of DWUW British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
