People are so mean to her, but she is kinda weak bc she pays attention to/talks about  all the jokes about her which makes the whole joke funnier ??

I can sort of see this. If a person has struggled with things like an eating disorder or other mental health issues, they may continue to suffer from extreme self-conciousness and may become slightly paranoid. People are joking on social media, some are just having fun (harmless intent) and a few may indeed be digging at her personally, but someone like Demi may take every comment as a perceived slight (malicious intent) because they have become paranoid due to their own insecurity issues.

As I've said before, she really shouldn't be feeling this way. She's a naturally beautiful girl, she has obvious vocal talent, and I hear good things about her album. But I can understand it. The stresses of the industry, the limited shelf-life of many women in her field, compounded with all her natural insecurities from her past, I can see why she may be having trouble brushing things off. And I think the public is becoming aware of it which will amp up many people to continue in order to get a rise from her. The media in particular may encourage such memes because if she has a meltdown than it's more money/hits for tabloid magazines, E!, gossip blogs and shows. Her fans also seem to be aware that she is exhibiting behavior contradictory to the message of her album and that's not a good thing.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

Totally. I think the whole 'Confident' shtick is a very forced thing and she needs to know it's okay to be vulnerable. It all just seems very messy to me.

You act like the general public don't use social media... Well they do, and they follow celebs. I know friends of mine who are not involved in pop culture or music forums at all but still know about and use the "delete it fat" and Poot memes all the time.

well that's a phenomenon but I don't regard her memes as huge enough.

Hahahahahahahaha this entire thread is gold. Listen, I really don't hold a personal grudge to this girl but she is just trying so damn hard to be seen as this young, cool, trendy popstar while just a while ago she claimed that was everything she didn't want to be. I don't know if it's the fame, the money or the pushy people behind her that lead her to portray herself as this persona but it's clearly not working.

Why does she feel the need to constantly justify her nakedness or edginess? "It's all about loving yourself, overcoming your obstacles, be who you want to be." Yeah, and you hired a "life coach", a fitness coach and a team of stylists to achieve your so called confidence in such a short amount of time. Where's the authenticity? Why constantly explain why you're doing the things you do? You're an adult. When Miley had her Bangerz era she was one of the first to condemn and basically sl*tshame her. But at least Miley was honest and blunt. Miley didn't apologise for any nudity or her new image. Demi is running around with her self-love image now that she's #curvy and #confident. Where were you when you didn't feel that way two years ago? Critiquing others.

What does Demi think is going to happen? Rehab centers everywhere will start playing #CONFIDENT in their group sessions? We get it Demi, you went through some sh*t but the racy clothes don't match all of the cheesiness coming out of your mouth. Get an original message, the market is too crowded. All these girls are out here with their titties out claiming their songs are anthems for everyone that feels "different". You are in no way different Demi, you are trying so very hard to conform to the popstar ideal and you're not even slaying that. Rejuvenate your career. Get a grip.

stan but i agree
