Are Demi's messes overshadowing her music?

Does anybody really care about what Demi Lovato does in her free time?

Personally, I like her new hot bod look and her new album.

I could give 2 s--tts less about any of her perceived "messes".

Only mentioned Selena because their album sales are about the same Pure Albums sales of 85,000 and 77,000 is basically identical. Are you really saying that a difference of 8,000 separates a success from a flop? Their first singles are both platinum And their second singles are under performing.

I don't know anyone who has mentioned this silliness in conversation or on social media. It's mostly a pop forum thing or for those who follow pop girls. 

The majority has no idea what is going on on pop forums or within a small group of people on Twitter. They hear a song...and if they like it, they like it. They would think all this mess is junior high school level silliness.

I never called either a flop... But GFY is undeniably much bigger than CFTS. #5 and #11 peaks whilst Selena didn't promote it at all but CFTS had performances at radio stations, Jimmy Kimmel AND VMAs. It was certified platinum including streaming but hasn't sold a million yet, but GFY has. Same Old Love was released before Confident and it's currently top twenty on iTunes whilst Confident isn't in the top fifty. It doesn't take a genius to work out who's doing better, and with much less promotion.

But that's besides the point of the original question I was asking.

What original question did you pose, other than the OP? I said no her actions aren't hurting her sales and that she is selling like other pop stars her age that released albums this year and I used Selena G as a comparison. You replyed to a comment and asked why I brought Selena the conversation. I pointed out that it was for comparison of two artists that started their careers in the same manner and both released albums and singles this year. GFY wasn't a mega hit it performed decently. CFTS wasn't a huge hit it performed decently too. Though GFY did slightly better. It's not like GFY performed like All About That Bass. Meghan Trainor's 17th single is performing better than anything these two have released so far. I didn't mention Selena to throw her under the bus and I don't even like Demi to try to put her on a pedestal. So I'm not even sure what your mad at unless you think Selena is somehow slaying. Selena and Demi are performing like avg pop stars in there early 20's. They both need to give us really kick ass and show stopping third and fourth singles if they want to sell at least a million albums a piece.

I don't know how she could release Confident as the album title and major single (the one that promotes the album). So I think her mediocre music is overshadowing her real talent.

on the other hand, I do think her new album is amazing. The songs are catchy af and her vocals aren't too bad and I agree she deserves more success for that. I think she's a better artist than Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber tbh. Selena has catchy tunes but her vocals are just so mediocre I can't really stand her.

You act like the general public don't use social media... Well they do, and they follow celebs. I know friends of mine who are not involved in pop culture or music forums at all but still know about and use the "delete it fat" and Poot memes all the time.

I think it's just because she's a pop girl and they have limited shelf lives, it seems. Even the best ones can fall through the cracks. It's a shame because not only is her album brilliant, it's one of the best of the year and it's one of the greatest pop albums I've ever heard period. She has a good voice (when she can control it) and her songs have just got really good, almost everything on that album is very good. Most of the public don't know anything about her breakdown or about any memes. They only respond to the artists who are out there promoting and making songs they like, that's it. And occasionally, songs can be created that are uber mainstream but never achieve popularity, for some reason. I don't know why CFTS never caught on - it's everything the public want from a summer song. Pop music's just so conservative right now, I guess. Maybe we've got past the point of wanting a experimental kissing song a la I Kissed A Girl for a while. I think some people can see through her personality as well. But you can only judge someone so much when they've endured a breakdown. Demi is obviously still feeling the effects of that. One minute, she's vulnerable and insecure, the next, she's confident. I don't buy it that she is as confident as she's claiming right now. But a ploy to sell records or not, I don't care, as long as there's good music to be had and she's certainly providing that.

Honestly, it annoys me how it's usually the most talented pop girls that fail. The ones who can't sing, the ones who get their material written for them, the ones who are manufactured, they're the ones who succeed. And they don't even need to try, meanwhile the genuine talents are working their butts off to get people to listen to them and then aren't even awarded with so much as a top ten for all their effort. It drives me mad. Girls just struggle in music in general. Labels don't want to sign them (especially if they're over 25), they don't get promoted as well, there's less hype going for them. No wonder the music industry's struggling - 50% of it aren't given the same opportunities for success. Meanwhile, the 3 worst types of male artists (boybands, bland guys with acoustic guitars and stoner rappers) get their hits and sales effortlessly because women have the hots for them. I'm female and even i don't understand why you would buy the album of someone just because you find them good looking. The concept should be an area of scientific research.

Her music isn't that memorable tbh. I'm not a fan so I only hear her on the radio. The other day one of her old song came on and I totally forgot that it was even on the radio :messga:

 

She's lucky these memes keep her relevant though.
