Would you be here for an album completely produced by Lady Gaga herself?

No not yet. It's not that I don't believe in her abilities, I think if she keeps producing she will one day then maybe in a couple of albums time. She said Venus was the first song she produced "by herself" but Madeon co-produced, so... I still don't really feel like we've heard her on her own. And if she's that new to it I would still rather she continue co-producing, maybe with a few self-produced tracks here and there.

she's already good at it....potential Oscar winning song- TIHTY says Hi

Weeeeell I mean TIHTY is a very different ball game to her usual songs which are (mostly) completely electronic and require way different and dare I say more advanced skills. With TIHTY all she had to do was have the instruments and vocals recorded by someone and then balance them together. The most fundamental and basic job as a producer for a song like that is quite basic and honestly not that hard to do for someone who's been behind the desk as much as she has. I would even argue that TIHTY's production isn't that good or special. Not bad, just average. Granted it's a skill that most of her peers don't have so I don't want it to seem like I'm discrediting that in any way.

Actually she only co-produced The Fame Monster. Gaga IS the executive producer for Born This Way and ARTPOP. I think people should use the right term, co-producing and producing are quite different.

You've heard a lot from Lady Gaga but you give too much credit for DJ White Shadow and Fernando Garibay.

I'm currently studying a degree in music production so I don't need a lesson on the terminology but thank you

'Co-producer' is exactly what it says. Someone who produces alongside the main producer, even just offers simple suggestions maybe. We know how loose those writing credits are, you can get your name on there for just suggesting one word change. It's the same thing. And we know for a fact (with ARTPOP, at least) that Gaga was just sent the beat ideas by the producers - particularly the Zedd tracks and I remember her talking about receiving the DWUW beat from DJWS - and then formed the songs from that later. We'll never know exactly to what extent Gaga is physically doing unless we're there in the studio with her.

To get the credit of executive producer you don't even have to push a single button. You just oversee the entire project. That's why Gaga has separate credits for executive producing the whole album, and then producing in the specific track credits.

I'm not taking away any credit from her at all. I think her vision is very apparent in all of her albums (even if I think it was less in ARTPOP, it's still there) and that's great. I just have an inkling that her full potential on the technical side has not been realised yet, thus she still needs others to work alongside her at this moment in time.

I won't deny those possibilities but aren't we a little too fast in concluding that they all apply to Gaga? No one here has stood in a studio with her before so we can't conclude that she's been doing nothing in the studios.

Yeah I just edited my post to say a similar thing (flop text box on this update keeps crashing and not letting me add anything else lol)

I never once said she did nothing, quite the opposite actually. I just think if she was proficient enough to record, produce and engineer all by herself without needing any assistance she would've done it by now. Like I said, Venus was supposedly her first solely produced song but Madeon got a credit in the end as well so she probably needed some assistance to realise her vision, or needed some help with certain technical aspects. We all know she has the creative part down so I can only assume she's still learning about DAWs. It's been two years since ARTPOP so she's probably a lot better now, though. I would personally love to have more of an insight into her studio process, it would be so cool to see what she does.

That'd be amazing!
