Should Gaga Record A Christmas Album?

In the past, Lady Gaga has recorded a few Christmas songs, like "Christmas Tree" with Space Cowboy in 2008 ( https://open.spotify.com/track/5ibU33f2nw9PqTSHpSzOfe ), "White Christmas" as part of her ABC special "A Very Gaga Thanksgiving" back in 2011 ( https://open.spotify.com/track/55H487szLjUo5X1acjOjLo ), the duet "Baby It's Cold Outside" with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in her other ABC special "Lady Gaga & The Muppets' Holiday Spectacular" in 2013 ( https://soundcloud.com/ladygagavevo/lady-gaga-baby-its-cold-outside-ft-joseph-gordon-live ), and her "Winter Wonderland" collaboration with grammy-winning legend Tony Bennett in 2014 ( https://open.spotify.com/track/6kkJlaBYdyFcwCg67hW40t ). With those tracks, it isn't hard to tell Gaga's pretty good at recording soft, holiday tunes that you can play in the background during your Christmas dinner. Mariah Carey (for example) released her iconic Christmas album 'Merry Christmas' back in 1994, four years into her career which was her 4th studio album. That record became a huge success, especially her original track on the album, 'All I Want For Christmas Is You', which became the best-selling Christmas song of all time. Gaga's been around for about 7 and she's done 3 pop studio albums and 1 jazz album and has released multiple hits and number one singles. I am not shading or comparing Gaga to Mariah in any way, I'm just saying since both artists have had huge success with almost all of their discography, Mariah has obviously sold more and had more number ones because she's been around for much longer and... well... she's Mariah freaking Carey. So, what do you think: should Gaga record a christmas album or not? Leave your thoughts in the comments! (Reminder: This is a post done intentionally for talking about Gaga's career and sharing personal opinions on what you think she should do, career wise. I am not trying to be biased or being rude in any way)

Christmas albums always come of desperate or cheap. Her jazz album(s) can be promoted during the holidays with campaigns or specials.

Absolutely yes! But I would like an EP not a full album. I love happy Christmas music.

Why are you guys so against new music? Have you not gotten the message that new music = good?

No, I'm done with covers. Especially the ones we've heard in a million different versions before.

Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?

indeed. Or with a twist on it or something, more like A Very Gaga Holiday and indeed like C2C getting that Xmas H&M promo

I think I would love a Christmas album, but I don't want her to do one. I want new music I can listen to year round. Also, I agree that Christmas albums come off a little cheap :/

Well, Cheek 2 Cheek was a holiday album to me. It was definitely something I liked to listen to while sitting next to a fire, reading a book and drinking some red wine while ignoring the bitter cold and wetness outside. I predict her next Jazz album will be the same way with me.

I have nothing against Holiday albums in general, but I'm not religious so I don't particularly want to listen to Christian themed music all day. However if that's what she wanted to do I wouldn't be against it. Now if she chose instead to do festive, secular music I'd be more on board, although I will admit to enjoying the occasional classic song (Carol of the Bells is one of my all time favorite songs ever, though I can't see Gaga singing that, mainly because it's best with a choir) and enjoy White Christmas (particularly the music used in the film of the same name). I would prefer if she wrote her own holiday songs though. How about a nice holiday EP? She could have something a little jazzy, something else a little boppy, mixed with some softer sounds, maybe a song with an orchestra. I wouldn't be against that.

I don't think she has time for any of that this year. I'm sure right now she is focused on the show and getting LG5 out. Maybe the end of next year?

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

I would be here for this especially of she wrote some of her own songs. Also just be an EP that comes out before LG5 to keep us sustained for a few months.
