But in general its an interesting question, should artist think about audience or do art in "selfish" manner and then audience will choose what they like. I think art should decide audience, not audience decide The art. So IMO artist shouldn't really think about what others think and express themselves freely. No pandering to The masses. I mean yeah, she has great vocals and she loves showing them on jazz songs but that's not how she built her fan base. She shouldn't ditch the sound that made her where she is now imo. She knows her fans want LG5 but she's taking her time and engrossing herself in acting while also writing music. And just because you don't want a jazz album doesn't mean all her fans don't either. She could have ridden "The Fame" horse until it died but didn't. It's how she keeps things fresh and interesting, by challenging both herself and her fans. Some fans don't like that and would prefer she keep repeating what they particularly like. Artists produce what they feel they need to produce and hope they find an audience. Most pop music is product churned out to meet specific demographics of consumer. Gaga is much more on the "artist" side of that equation, and thank the universe for that. Most of her fans are pop music loves (not pop-thirsty gays which is a really embarassing title for people that just like pop music).. And btw SHE cares about her artistry..She doesn't do anything for her fans.. Shitty bubblegum videos and lipsync is NOT what she wants for herself.
