Bad Bromance 5,809
The Countess is supposed to be calm, collected and calculating. She's playing the role perfectly, if you ask me. I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

Are you aware of how American Horror Story works? If there's something it rarely lacks off, it's precisely character development. You just seem frustrated to be at episode 5, still not knowing much about the Countess, but I can assure you: her time will come ;) There are still 8 episodes to go, you can't go and blast the writing just yet, really. Tbh I find it quite funny how the only negative comments I've seen about Gaga's performance have been on this website. I was even reading the comments section of the Daily Mail recently and non-fans were praising her acting. She is proving herself slowly but surely. I look forward to future scenes where she gets to show her versatility, because I truly think there's a great actress hiding underneath. You just hit the nail on the head. It's quite sad to read the negative comments coming from Gaga's own fans. The Daily Mail has done nothing but praise her and so have other people who I follow on Twitter and are non-Gaga AHS fans. I guess what some other members have said here is so true. Little Monsters are the most critical fan base there is and they are NEVER satisfied with anything Gaga does. She doesn't need haters from other fan bases bashing her when she has all the haters she needs within her own fan base. Bravo, GagaDaily!! Bravo!! Okay, I'm off my soapbox now. I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.
EdgeofTeeth 1,934
It is so frustrating to log on every day to more negative comments about Gaga's acting. As someone that's been a fan of AHS since the beginning, she looks and seems right at home with the other actors/actresses. The Countess is SUPPOSED to be calm/collected/reserved/emotionless etc. I think Gaga has more than proven her acting ability in the small handful of emotional scenes that she's been given so far. Just because she's not crying and/or exploding with rage in every other scene does NOT mean she's not acting or adding layers to her character. The subtlety of her acting completely fits The Countess' characterization so far.
SharGaga 2,906
She can't act in my honest opinion. Her line delivery is absolutely the pits. Not only does it seem that she is rushing her lines, that accent sounds so forced, I can't even understand what she's saying. There's also so many inconsistencies with so many different looks, and different accents. She's switching from a nice girl to boss lady in a frame of a second, I know it's supposed to be part of the character or something, but it's just so unconvincing. I wish she would have sticked to the 8 episodes tbh, her presence in AHS does the show more bad than good.

I think it's meant to be like that, until we know her full story-line. A lot like the story-lines of Jude from S2 and a couple S3 characters This kitten over here (meow)
Nicole 1,809
I think people are forgetting that she is supposed to be over 100 years old, while Donovan for example was "born" in the 90s. Shows like The Vampire Diaries etc showed vampires moving with the times and accustoming to how society acts etc - but Murphy seems to be moving away from that assumption with The Countess, and it's been explained that she's experiences a lot of loss as well, so in that sense her behaviour etc is perfectly understandable. On the other hand, I don't think her acting ability is being used to it's best potential. I think she's doing the best she can for such a rigid character (don't hold my word on that - we did see some "human" in her last ep. when she told Liz to get the ice), but if she ever did more acting I hope she explores other type of roles that can allow her to really pull on her acting strings. Murphy has definitely designed this role for "Lady Gaga" - the extravagant fashion, the strong + intimidating presence overshadows any actually acting, in fact, there's little room for her to actually act. My opinion isn't final and definitely hoping for it to change, but it is frustrating how we're 5 eps in and there's been absolutely no character development for her. I'm a fan of AHS and I am used to their slow progression of storylines etc but it's really disappointing in her respect so far. I'm enjoying the other characters more. She's been alive for a very long time and has been through a lot of heart break. The only time she shows emotion is when someone inspires her. This. I don't think she's dead inside, but she has seen it all. And she has a softspot, her child(ren). As for Gaga, I do feel the oldtimey accent is holding her back a bit in her acting or at least makes her less realistic/relatable. She did let it go a little bit during the scene with Liz. According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

NYCMonster1984 100
I had never seen AHS Murder House until this weekend and HOLY CRAP was it good! I didn't realize just how bad hotel is until I saw it. This season is terrible in comparison. Lange slays the show!

That's pretty interesting cause most of the people commenting on the internet say that she delivers her lines very good. It's really rarely for me to find a bad opinion about her acting. But I guess you are the true critic right here. So what's good? Sugar, spice, and everything nice.
Gardevoir 9,823
.Lol. About 'mess' in this season, shoud I remind you how bad people were reacting over the Asylum til the season wasn't finished? Opinions were really bad and everyone was freaking out, and at the end Asylum happened to be considered one of the best seasons. xdd Sugar, spice, and everything nice.
