fede ARTPOP 6,737 Posted November 8, 2015 Share Posted November 8, 2015 Its weird, cause for me as a fan ARTPOP is a great pop album, songs like Aura, Venus, ARTPOP, MANiCURE, Dope, Gypsy and Applause are beautiful pop gems that only Gaga can do...so for me it wasnt a fail album or something. If she releases a bad album, 2015's positive feedback won't do her any favors whatsoever. I hope Gaga realises that she needs to release serious music. An authentic and timeless record. Not recycled tunes, not silly and incomprehensible lyrics, not basic and dated production. Another just dance in 2015 will flop harder than G.U.Y. I'm not saying she should only release piano ballads as if this is the only serious genre. No, she could release a full dance album but something fresh, authentic and organic with decent and relatable lyrics. She should stay away from songs like Donatella, Jewels N Drugs, Mary Jane Holland etc. These songs are listenable for like 1 month, she just needs to release great songs. That said, she should have a completely different approach for the promo during the next era. Adele didn't even perform "hello" and she is breaking all records. That's exactly what people need from an artist. Just a great song and not someone trying to shove art down people's throat 24/7 while giving 1000 interviews explaining the meaning of a song/album with the pretentious attitude: <<i'm a real artist and i have nothing to do with the other pop girls, i make art blah blah blah>>. This is so unnecessary and wrong, just let your views and your artistic spirit speak for itself through your music, your videos and your performances. ARTPOP was trying to be innovated with this reverse pop art theme. Sadly it wasn't executed to the fullest after the Applause single promo when she went all quiet. The album itself didn't actually help convey the theme either, making it hard to understand what ARTPOP really is about. (When I heard the songs I just kept thinking about how similar they are to her previous themes like fame, s-x, fashion, love yourself, empowerment...) will she be able to come up with new themes or go back to the same as always? I feel like LG5 will be an important album to see if she can have a breakthrough (not commercially but grow in her theme and song writing skills ) Gosh we demand so much from her lol, if it was other artists they stay the same and we wouldn't even think strangely about it. I hope we will hear about her darkness, sadness, the pain....but also about the road back, when everything becomes brighter and you bloom again. It could be dance records, innovative and surprising, but still with gorgeous melodies like Bad Romance for example or Smooth Criminal, Skyfall. Hope there is also some experimental stuff like HML. While I love her older songs: Bad Romance, Just Dance, Paparazzi, etc. I'm expect a whole new, and innovative Gaga for this next album. While I loved Gaga's ARTPOP era, I will agree that I did feel like she was trying to shove the "I'm an artist" card into people's throats. While I highly respect Gaga as an artist, the fact that she needed to explain herself so many times was just, well, reductive... We just want a great song that we can listen to and just dance too—no pun intended.
