Would Beyonce be taken more seriously if she was white?

I think she's 100% respected (as she deserves to be) and the fact that she's black does not take anything away from her currently...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

In a way. She's always been degraded by others for no reason when in reality she is really good and deserves what she has. I feel like African Americans are always seen as people who beg for attention for no reason (every race has has people like that).

Yes, I'm white, but do you know about my ancestry? That on my dad's side, I have a lot of Lithuanian roots from his grandparents who fled to the UK to escape Hitler's regime (which is why I'm strongly opposed to Nazism)? Or that there is some black roots on my mum's side? Bear in mind that some people can also look white but actually be mixed race or just have "come out white" for some inexplicable reason from black parents. You can't say that someone has no mixed racial history just from looking at them or judging it all based on their nationality.

i think you're ignorant and offensive. sorry.

So what? Mankind originated in Africa, so we all have African roots at our core. Here's the thing - a true racist denies biological science and their heritage. They will also not partake in anything that could be seen as "foreign" and will not associate with anyone who is a different skin colour. They'll probably be very xenophobic too. That's not been me and never has been. I've always been proud of my diverse heritage, I had a Chinese friend at school (there were very few non-whites all throughout my schooldays and the few who were weren't in my classes, so this was in itself a rare thing), I studied French and Spanish at Higher level (a B and C respectively), I took Religious Education at school which focused on Christianity and Buddhism, which I got an A in, I have a university degree in Religious Studies (specialising in Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam). I did bellydancing for a while, I do Bollywood dancing and am very close to the Indian girls there and I do twerk workouts for fun. Rap/hip hop is one of my most favourite genres ever and about 80% of my favourite rap albums are by black artists. Some songs by black artists have also defined parts of my childhood and there are many I would count as some of my all-time favourites. I'm perfectly open to pursuing a relationship with a man of a different race and have always been critical of anyone who states that they just have a preference for white partners. I've said before that I don't even see colour (well, I do see it, obviously, but I don't define people by it).

So, yes, a very cultured life and it would have been even more cultured if there were larger amounts of different races in my area. See, you don't know me as well as you think. Ever since I was a little girl, I was all about giving everyone a fair chance and treating everyone with respect, even if you don't know them. Yet, I still got bullied and struggled to get people to like me, but I still strive to get along with as many people as I can and would never judge someone who could be a potential friend on such superficial things as colour. But yet, you still think you know best and call me ignorant and offensive, which really cuts like a knife. You even have the audacity to put a "sorry" at the end, as if you're genuine. That word means absolutely nothing when it follows something so hateful.

Sad that a white person feels the need to be so nasty to a fellow white, talking as if they're black. I'm surprised you're getting any support from blacks when you say all this sterotypical stuff. This kind of thing hurts so much more when it comes from another white person.

"to a fellow white",

"hurts so much more coming from another white"

this sounds so wrong...

Just because you're both same race, it doesn't mean that you share the same values or that "fellow white" deserves more respect.

If you trully believe that all humans are equal, you would be hurt the same whether insult comes from white, black or Asian.

And "talking as if they're black", how exactly a black person talks?

Race was created by white people.

Also where am I being nasty/ talking like i'm black? That's kind of racist

I genuinely don't care, you entrawl my threads with your stories about your life that have absolutely NO RELATION to the op in anyway and are just you trying to prove your not racist. Stop trying to list off cultural things like you're filling some criteria or checklist

It's not wrong. Of course it hurts more when coming from the people who are the same as you. I've heard about gay/bi/trans people say that the worst kind of criticism they get is from the LGBT community, that it hurts so much more because this is the community who's supposed to understand you and support you. It pains me that I see so many whites not having any faith in their own race, thinking that their own people are all judgemental, have provided nothing for the world, just steal other people's ideas and aren't nice in general. What have I said to deserve such disrespect? Everything I've said comes from logic and looking at statistics.

I mean they're talking as if they're black because they're coming out with stuff that some blacks use to mock white people who claim to love their roots.

I don't care who race was "created by." It has no bearing on what we're talking about.

Look above for my explanation - you're acting in the same way some blacks do when they mock whites. It's pretty cringey how much you're throwing yourself into this debate so passionately as if you can truly understand black people's struggles. You're the kind of person I think of when I think of a SJW - it's all stuff we've heard before, just standard lines to say, it has no genuine feeling behind it. It's just "the right thing to say," nothing more.

This is what I'm talking about - a white person cannot win in these situations. You say you're not racist, it isn't enough. You try to prove you're not racist, and for some reason, it makes things even worse. What exactly can I do to prove that I'm not racist, then, other than bowing down to your opinions like some sort of sheep? Well, hate to break it to you, but I'm nobody's b***h.

What are you trying to argue again? Why are you even trying to prove you're not racist in the first place though...You haven't provided any statistics or facts to whatever it is you're arguing.

No one's disrespecting you, but do you realise how bad you sound when you say stuff like this

You're already othering other races when you claim to be. I'm not the same as you. We're both white but I am not with you because of that

Also don't you ever compare LGBT to race. Race isn't real, it's a social construct. Sexuality is biology, it is real. The struggles of a gay person aren't comparable to that of white people (if we have any)

"I've said before that I don't even see colour (well, I do see it, obviously, but I don't define people by it)." - lies. the whole argument you've been making in this thread is based around racial generalisations. if you didn't see it or define people by it, you would've never had that ignorant thought.

"80% of my favourite rap albums are by black artists." wasn't this the exact point you were trying to make earlier? that people 'pretend' they like black people more to make them seen more genuine? and now you've given this incredibly trivial list about how great all these indian and black people are? well guess what. i say you're just doing that cos of your white guilt and you don't really love them that much :)

and you value the opinion of a "fellow white" even more. 'This kind of thing hurts so much more when it comes from another white person.' i mean......
