Nicki doesn't have Rihanna beat on youtube... Anaconda went viral, so it's hard to compare... American Oxygen had basically no promo and BBHMM is restricted, so only people with an account can watch the video, but it has more than 1 million likes, I believe... so it would have like 180 million views by now... also, let's consider that the video came much later... the song was already popular on the radio and had a lot of listens on spotify... The rest of Rihanna's videos might not have as many views as you'd expect, but it's just because youtube has a much bigger audience now than it used to, and Nicki is somewhat recent...

True also you can tell people were hungry early on for a BBHMM video. Her performance of BBHMM already has 43 Million views.

It peaked at #4

And BBHMM at #15

you're viewing the Australian charts

Also, it's more about the fact that Rihanna is a singles artist... even with #1 singles she doesn't sell too many albums... so it's an underperformance for her standards

idk why people say this when she has had consistently decent album sales for years. yes her success in singles far outweigh that, but still... her biggest "flop" sold 3m+ WW. With the exception of her debut and that "flop" of 3m, all her other albums have sold upwards of 4m which is not bad at all and is exceptionally consistent. ANTI will no doubt do significantly less not only because of the mess that it is but sales in general, but still.

I never said she was a flop, she is obviously tremendously successful... Her album sales aren't a flop either, but you'd expect more from.... But it also has to do with the fact that she used to release albums non-stop... but I highly doubt ANTI will sell more than 120k in its first week

But I'm only a man and I do what I can.

As Hello continues to slay all the scheduled pop girls begin disembarking this ship saying they 'need more time' for the album. Lol how hungry they are for success

I never said you called her a flop but you said she doesn't sell albums which simply isn't true

FameHungry

I remember reading an article years ago which was basically outlining how Rihanna's success was partly coming from her annual album releases. Constantly churning out pop hits and consumable media. But it also stated that the second she stopped this strategy, then it would be nearly impossible to get back to the same level of popularity that she obtained before.

See, she's also screwed cos she never writes her own stuff so she's completely reliant on other people to get the album released.

This is why this way of making music just doesn't work. It's too expensive, it's too reliant and it's inorganic. You just can't keep it up forever. It's a guarented failure at some point.

The struggle of not writing your own stuff. Maybe she should try it. She could possibly get the results she's looking for.

some people just dont have the capacity o write its not that simple. its honestly a gift

Not everyone has to write music

That way of thinking is kinda flawed. Not all musicians have the drive, inspiration, calling, to write music. Some never even think about it.

Well, but we're talking about Rihanna..it's not like she's a Diana Ross!!!

She probably should have stuck with LA Reid, since he was buying her all the best hits and hit makers every year.

You can't have it both ways.

she leaved him?

I think that Rihanna is just lucky her voice is OK and she's good looking but let's face it... if the music business were about talent ONLY, she would be cleaning the floors instead of being the queen.
