djBuffoon 12,123
Dont like 10+ million people still watch it every week through streaming + dvr + torrenting. I don't think they care that only about 2 million watch it on an actual television, This. The show is very much still in the public consciousness. Many people just in my social circle alone watch it via torrent and DVR, and I imagine that is the case pretty much everywhere you look. Murphy even discussed this at a panel recently. Ratings are not as reliable as they used to be, there are numerous ways for TV shows (and films) to be watched now.
bradshaw 266
The major complaint I have seen for Hotel on the internet was the gore. Everyone was complaining about how "nasty" and terrible the show has become(?) lol. Gaga's addition has also been praised by fans, critics, and the GP alike so I doubt she has the power to turn off that many people from watching because her acting is pretty great for a first time popstar actress. Many also claimed there is no storyline despite it being laid out slowly. They act like Ryan Murphy is going to spill the tea all at once. I guarantee once the season ends this will be regarded as the best or one of the best because you can pretty much determine things like this from what we have so far from the show and what will come in the future. (Unless Ryan changes the story halfway and ruins what he has so far then… I guess Hotel remains better than Freakshow at least.) i caught your fever, i'll be feeling it forever
Bradley 59,192
It's unfair to put the blame on Gaga, Hotel is set after Freak Show, the season which many fans think is the worst. Obviously some fans left after Freak Show so the numbers we have for Hotel are actually quite satisfying if anything.
Schwerk 7,247
I think her character and storyline is the most intrigueing. I really don't know what's missing. I tend to think that Jessica is the main reason, but certainly not Gaga. But, if you look to Freak Show's ratings, the first episode had 6.13M viewers and the last one barely reached 3M...I think the characters in general aren't very relatable, there's no-one to root for, therefor a viewer can loose interest. You don't really care what happens to all these people stuck in their own little world.I personally don't like how many backstories were already explained in the first few episodes. It seemed easy and made the story more predictable to me. I prefer a little more mystery and emotion, for example Donnovan and Elizabeth breaking up went quite quick for me. The second I saw Tristan I knew what would happen for example. And Gaga explaining what being a vampire is about would be nicer if it stayed a bit more mysterious. I dunno, it's hard to explain. I just miss the tention. Maybe its just me, I overa--lyse and therefor not much suprices me. According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch
Katharine Hepburn 4,607
I think the plot is just unfolding slowly which I think is a good thing so I don't get bored half way through the season (murder house & coven) or stop watching half way (Freakshow). However this doesn't get people hooked as shown in asylums ratings but got more people watching for next year. I guess time will tell. xoxo Joanne
Candy Oyster 152
No way darling. The problem is the ill-developed Screenplay The acting is on point (for every single character). So I hope to see good changes on the script, certainly it is the key to make a positive shift on the show.

SISTERV 3,887
The show was coming off a bad season. The theme this year is a little more bland (although the story hasn't been)The first episode introduced you to like five different (seemingly disconnected at the time) plot lines that were difficult to follow. It has not had s--tty ratings. It's leveling out each week now to 3-3.5 million viewers.many wait for AHS seasons to come on Netflix. If Gaga maybe and I mean MAYBE made an AHS fan turn off the show because they hate her that much, that could be the only reason it lost some viewers. And that accounts for a small percentage of the viewers. From what I understand, most people find Gaga getting increasingly eery and stronger as a character each week. Shadow 6,632
The problem isn't her... not everything is about her.The problem is the over the top shock value without producing a decent story to follow. It is the same problem Coven and Freakshow had, it needs more plot development and creating likable as well as disposable characters. Been watching Walking Dead as well and the difference between a well written script and something that was stitched together for cheap thrills becomes apparent. I'll keep watching hoping the Devils Night episode has the plot twist I suspected since the detective was invited and I want to see how Elizabeth plans to use those she has turned. Good horror usually has good buildup to create the right mix of suspense, shock, and story. So I think it is unfair to pick on Gaga since this is her first major role in a show like this. If anything, I think her star power might be helping to keep the ratings from dropping more. Do your own research.
eifulien 2,969
Oh gosh. I'm so hooked up this season. To be honest, Freak Show has a great story overall but it didn't spark an interest in me as much as previous seasons (maybe it was like too obvious name - story? Like it relied on compassion and it wasn't really terrifying, it got too "social-related" "we fight for justice and equality" so to say) so I just waited for the season to end and watched all episodes. Whereas with Hotel, I can't resist the temptation to watch it. Yes the story is unwrapped slow but then again I think it will end up being the most complex storytelling of all seasons so far. It's back to being very graphic and something that has been missing is back - the family. So to answer the OP, Gaga has not affected the ratings negatively for sure. And I'm quite surprised that this season is not as well receved as previous ones. And the fact that Freak Show has the highest ratings proves once again that critics' opinion has the value of just enough to be shoved up their a$$es and packed up, kiss it goodbye! NYCMonster1984 100
The fall in ratings has to do with the fact that the writing and show this season is terrible. Gaga is great on AHS, and I think her acting is great. Nothing to do with her. I'm even having a hard time watching it.

Great horror scares the **** out of you without having to use a drop of blood.
