Is Gaga Causing "AHS: Hotel" To Lose Ratings?

The show (season?) is kinda boring.

I watched the first three episodes to see Gagz but I stopped finding interest in the show as a whole.

meh. gagz probably dont care if the show will be a hit or miss. as long as the creativity of both artist flourish and grow, there's nothing wrong with it.

Maybe to some extent. I don't mean her performance is making people switch off or anything, but the idea of a pop star having such a big role in this series may turn some people off, especially with Jessica Lange absent for this season.

I'm getting Asylum teas from the overall reaction tbh. A lot of curiosity, a lot of frustration, roughly half of the viewers are fascinated with how the season is paced and what's happening (count me among them), while others seem to be bored.

I think this is easily the most intriguing season so far since S2. Nothing has been explained yet, but the characters are interesting despite being morally questionable, the plot is 100% unpredictable so far, and the mood is spooky as hell.

This is my first seasons of AHS and I actually like the pacing!

I'm not really sure if people were expecting something different as I haven't watched the previous seasons, but I love all sorts of shows with various pacing. I liked "The Killing" which was pretty slow as it's basically one or two leads an episode but it's far more interesting than a lot of other crime / thriller shows.

I don't know. I just think it's odd people are complaining about the pace when it's got multiple story lines moving at the same time whilst intertwining in comparison to shows that move a lot slower with just one primary perspective being told.

I think people would've initially been waiting for Gaga to f*ck up so they could drag her, but no one can really say anything about her acting because she's actually pretty good, so I don't think Gaga is the reason. I think it's just been quite boring as a season so far, like nothing seems to be very gripping about the storyline, it's just muddling along imo.

No, she actually caused so much viewers for the 1st episode that it didn't almost fall (5%) from last season's peak even though every show suffers live right now from streaming. The current ratings decline is caused by a weak writing

AHS is the second highest cable TV show, right behind The Walking Dead. How is that bad? :smh:

TV shows, as a whole are losing ratings. AHS isn't unique or an exception.

I think the fact that it's been four episodes and the show has hardly gone anywhere is what's causing the supposedly low ratings. Yes, things are slowly pacing through which i'm fine with as of now, but a problem with Freakshow and Coven was a lack of time management - forgetting that it is a one-season show and thus things just blow up unnecessarily at the end. I'm trusting the writers that things are gonna get going very soon - including regarding Gaga's character - she's been in every episode and given the exact same performance. Next episode seems to be very Countess based so hopefully the storyline advances to an interesting degree.

Bad Monster Kid

Part of it probably has to do with Wes Bentley in the lead role. Not sure why it was given to him. Imo he's not good for this role and is making it hard for me to emotionally invest in his character and storyline.

Has he been in anything besides this and American Beauty?

To answer your question: the plot is unfolding at an (intentionally) deliberate pace, and that doesn't work for everyone.

I totally agree with you.  A lot of people want the entire plot to be revealed within the first few episodes and that is completely ludicrous.  If that were to happen, how boring the remaining 70% of the season would be when everything is laid out for everyone and there's no sense of mystery?   :toofunny:

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.
