EDIT: I would agree that the fact the album came out so Pop would be label interference if she was hoping for something more acoustic, but I would also argue that the album has a lot of songs I wouldn't necessarily call energetic-Pop-Bops outside of the singles. 

Yup, I ended up, after a discussion with Whispering, concluding for myself that the second half of PRISM is probably what Katy had in mind more while the first half reflects more of the Teenage Dream vibe that she said she wanted to absolutely remove herself from. So she did end up with a sort of compromise, probably.
